So I was working on some suspension stuff, and under the front end, I noticed both wires on my e-locker had been severed. There’s also damage to the little bushing where it goes through the axle case. Not sure what hit it. Before I open this thing up, is this something that I can do myself or do I need to take it back to the axle shop? I’m sure the wiring goes to a solenoid of some type, and I’m not sure if the wire is repairable or if there is even enough wire inside.

Contact Eaton and figure out if that section of wire between the electromagnet and the outside can be replaced, including the strain relief bulkhead fitting.

If it were mine, I would pull the cover and plan on a pair of butt splices and adhesive heat shrink inside the diff.

It can be replaced. There is a service kit for nearly $300. That doesn't include labor.

The service kit includes the stator (coil that actuates the locker) the plate that the coil rides on, and the thrust bearing. To replace the wiring would mean pulling the carrier, if its a Dana 30, pulling the bearing off to change out the stator, then putting the bearing back on and putting the carrier back in with the correct shims. I think a Dana 44 is large enough to be swapped out without pulling the the bearing off.

or you could pull the cover and maybe splice a repair in there and save yourself some headache.

I’d pull that cover. Probably just a couple wires to splice. Mine are spliced just outside the diff. Never had an issue. Get the same gauge and type wire, use a butt connector and adhesive heat shrink.
