Clunk/pop when making U-turn?

I tried to figure this out a few months ago and had new luck. Now the noise has gotten more frequent and I have some free time this summer so I'm trying to sort this out. If I'm making a left handed U turn I will get a loud POP from the right front side and then the steering wheel goes off center. If I stop the Jeep after this happens and turn my wheel full lock to the right, I can get it to POP again and the steering wheel goes back to normal.

I tried to look under while I had someone turn the wheel for me and I couldn't figure it out. What am I missing? It's almost as if something is popping in and out.

Tie rod sleeve loose/stripped maybe?

I had something similar and it was my front axle u joints. When were those last replaced?

I tightened it because I suspected it and it made no difference so I don’t think so, though I guess it could be stripped.

Never. I am on stock tire size though (28” I think), but the Jeep has 207k on it. Are they probably worn out anyways?

Track bar movement could cause it. You need to have someone make it pop while you watch the various link ends up front. Should be fairly obvious.

I would be checking the u joints caps to see if there is any movement. 207k on stock u joints is a lot of miles.

Yes, definitely overdue for replacement if original. Also unlikely to cause the problem described by the OP.

I'm getting a similar sound from my rear track bar, whose bushing is basically gone on one side. And I mean gone, like it took off and left with the kids kinda gone.

Ok, will take a closer look at the track bar. Maybe I’ll mark it with a paint pen, have it pop and see if it shifts.
