Check engine light on (evap system leak)

Chasing evap leaks is always frustrating.
I will tell you after buying 2 autozone cheap gas caps I took the forums advice and bought the real mopar replacement gas cap.
After that my evap leak has finally gone away been 2 years now.

Gotcha. The code was P0455 again. The Evap leak. I did fill up gas this morning... I made sure the cap was on okay, removed the negative from battery and reattached 10 mins later. CEL did not come on.

As for the radiator, it wasn't too low, so i just put a clamp on the reservoir hose because it was missing one (and loose enough for liquid to leak from) So that should be good, I'll keep a close eye on it though.

I had that problem with my 1997 throwing Evap error codes and check engine light. I don't believe it has anything to do with the radiator. They are two totally different problems. There are evap parts that fill up with carbon and must be replaced after the vehicle has been filled up with gas and burned for over 25 years. A lot of those parts aren't made and I had to find replacement parts on this site that even my mechanic didn't know about. One such part was the Carbon Evap Canister. I think it became a VC120 part as the no longer available OEM part. There are other parts tied to it that will be ruined if they aren't replaced before a new canister is installed. The whole Evap system must be cleaned, or the new canister will be ruined. I had to research the whole thing because even the certified SMOG station didn't know about the process. It ended up being that I needed a new purge valve too, and everything had to be cleaned and installed properly or it would ruin one or the other. I finally got it done properly after like two months of failures. That was three years ago and I haven't had a Evap code error or check engine light since, but it cost me like $1000 to fix it. I had tune ups, spark plugs, distributor parts, and that carbon/charcoal kept throwing codes. I was determined to fix it. That was a huge headache. My mechanic traced it down to fouled connections because of all the Carbon. He said that he pulled everything, flushed it, cleaned the connectors, with the new parts, and the code disappeared after two weeks. Some people can just block it off, but in Cal Emissions that isn't acceptable. I wish I could be more definitive in my explanation. But, I'll leave that to the Jeep Gurus. Good luck.
