Looking to run a bigger tire size on my 97 TJ, currently has the Dana 35 re-geared to 4.10 I believe. Put 36s on and from what I've read a stock 35 won't handle that 36x13.50 for too long. Friend of mine has 36s on his jeep and the rear-end has gone out 2 times so he is putting in a ford 9-inch. and I'm wanting to keep my 36s and is curious what the best axle upgrade is. If I get a new axle I'd like it to be bolt in so I can install it. Of everything I see there are Dana 44s but new they're around $4k new from G2 and about $5k for a Currie 60. Looking for the most cost-effective way to do things and I don't know are bolt-in ford 9s and 8.8s. Anyone know what the best upgrade for me is or your experience with this? Thanks

Your front Dana 30 isn't strong enough for 36" tires either. And there's no upgrade to the Dana 30 that would make it strong enough either.

Install the Super 35 kit into the Dana 35 and stay with 35's and you'll be fine.

If you want to run larger tires then you will need different axles. Other than finding Dana 44's from a Rubicon there aren't other axles that will just bolt in.

Here is a place to get both front and rear axles.
