hey guys, just looking for a little guidance as I’ve been chasing down ghost the past few days. Drove to work fine and when I got off I had power but no turnover on my jeep. Tried jumping the starter and it wasn’t engaging so I got a new starter and put it on. Had the same issues except the new starter was anctually engaging and I was assuming it was the actuator pin however I can’t even jump the starter and get it to crank. Yesterday I ran a wire from the starter solenoid directly to the positive battery terminal and she fired up and idled for roughly 10 minutes. I thought i had it figured out enough to atleast get her home after shift but now cant seem to ger her to start at all. it will turn over it just wont start. every attempt is with a set of jumpers on it and ive tested the battery with a multimeter so i know the battery has good juice its just weird it started yesterday amd it wont today. possibly just blew a fuse starting it with the wire yesterday? and guidance is appreciated thanks in advance

You need air, fuel, and spark to make it fire. Have you checked fuel pressure, and/or have you verified the fuel pump relay kicks on when you turn the key ON? If it will catch a little with some starter fluid into the intake it will prove you have spark, and it's hard to not have air with the throttle body exposed while you're spraying starter fluid down the throat. I don't know what year yours is so you may or may not be able to test fuel pressure at the rail.

Start there.

Appreciate it hear, I’m going to go ahead and change out the ignition actuator pin and ignition switch tomorrow so I’m not having to try and jump the starter every time and I’ll pick up some starter fluid while I’m out and start there first. Relay is kicking on because I can hear the fuel pump when I turn it over.

Checking all my fuses and everything last night with a multimeter about 12:30 while on night shift and gave it one more try before throwing in the towel until I got starter fluid and she fired right up so I got her to the house! Thanks for the tips though I’ll keep them stored in my toolbox for sure. Hoping it was just a loose fuse or relay and it got secured after pulling all of them, all that’s left is to change the actuator pin and starter and hopefully I’ll be back on the road. Thanks again guys
