hey y’all. My steering gearbox is leaking. I’m trying to decide if I should get mine fixed or purchase one. any advice would be helpful. It looks as though it is leaking from the top and not any of the fluid lines.

Thanks.

If your box is good otherwise (no slop) I'd first try the stop leak product Macleanflood recommended above. Next consider rebuilding / replacing the seals as Rickyd posted. There are just too many reported issues with replacement / rebuilt boxes. Seems it's a real crap shoot with these, unless you decide to purchase one of the high dollar new ones such as PSC. Do everything you can to keep your original box.

Thank you for that info. Great solid information !!

I'd go with a "new" box from BBB or Lares. Rebuilt are junk. You could try a seal first, but if there's any slop in that gear box at all, I wouldn't spend any time doing anything to it personally.
