2005 TJ Rubicon. When shifting into forward, sometimes the transmission does not respond. It acts as if it is in gear, but the jeep does not move forward. I can feel the shift, but no movement. Reverse works normally. Changed fluid and filter, but no change.

Thank you,

I know you posted as a 2008, but your profile says 2005.

Can you be specific in how you changed the fluid? Did you check the level per the owners manual instructions for your automatic? It sounds like it's low on fluid.

I had a shop look at it. They drove it for about four days. ( Owner drove it to and from home.) They are the ones that changed the fluid. I did check the level, it looks good.

Did you smell the fluid to see if it smelled burnt.

Even fresh fluid, if the old was bad, should still have a faint burnt smell to it.

Thank you,

I'd heavily consider having @Wranglerfix test the PCM for you. This is a known issue on 05-06 PCMs.

Good morning from downtown Davie, Florida and thank you for the tags. I have seen the Pcm cause the issues you’re describing. Is your check engine light on? How is your shifting from 1st to 2nd in the morning? How is your idle?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

I am in California. I lived in St Pete for about 1 year long time ago. Nice place. People are mentioning the PCM as the issue. I have no check light on. Once it does go into gear, it drives like normal. Including the idle.

Thanks,

John
