Hi everyone,

Just joined the TJ family a few weeks ago and love it! I am doing some small repairs (bulbs, switches, etc) but can’t find what I need to order to fix the indicator on the automatic shifter. The letters are there, PRNDL, etc, but when I move the gear shifter nothing changes to indicate I have shifted gears. Is there a simple plastic piece or something I can change to make it indicate which gear it is in again?

Thank you in advance.

That cover on the base of the shifter is pretty easy to pull up. You will probably see something effecting the movement of red indicator. Post a picture if you can’t figure it out.
I owned my Jeep for 12 years before figuring out that the shifter has a backlight. I even had a replacement bulb riding around in the glove box the whole time. Slap head! DOH!

Yes, it's just a small plastic part that rides along with the shifter. Hopefully it has just disengaged with the part it rides with.
