I bought my jeep years ago as a my 2nd vehicle for fun. I always thought as soon as my engine goes, I was going to put in a larger engine. Well, 10+ years later, I think my transmission is going out. I hear it “grinding” while in neutral. If I push the clutch in, the sound goes away. Engine is still kicking, although I think I have a manifold leak. I have been pretty happy with the 2.5 and have had almost no issues/complaints. My question is, do I replace the AX5, or do I just continue to save and replace the whole drive train?

Ya just sounds like your throw out bearing. If for what ever reason it is the trans I see many used ones on marketplace or junk yards you could cheaply swap in or if you want new or upgraded there is the ax15 swap kits as well but you shouldn’t need that this time.
