nerf bars

Hi guys... I bought these Westin nerf bars off marketplace. The guy said they came off his 2000, which mine is as well. But for some reason they don’t align with my body mounts. Any ideas? Probably just got the wrong length and the dude lied or something... see pics of length and distance...

What is a good solution for a rock slider that also functions as a side-step / nerf bar? Currently I have Rugged Ridge nerf bars which are great for getting in and out of the car. However, it would be nice to have something that also serves as protection for the rocks.
