    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

It’s so inconvenient to get that tester back on haha so I’m not in a hurry to get that done today to look at it hot. I’m fine with the numbers right now. Thinking my pump just grew muscles. Or it only pooped out a small sludge ball thing and big granddaddy Sludge is still in there squishing...

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Copy that, this is a 2.5. Kidding aside, the engine ran cold idle for about 10 seconds before shutting it down when it puked out those 3 quarts. Otherwise before and after that it was running with appropriate oil level. Seems like, so far, it didn’t sustain damage from low oil.

lol Maybe my engine likes it rough

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Starts and runs fine today. Rod noise is a guess, a guess that I never made. I think all the evidence points towards tappet. Will be draining and checking for metal. Then trying to cut my old filters when I can. Got a pressure tester that I’ll slap in too and see what’s up. I’ve got this...

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Next start up was smooth, no abnormal noises. Drove 150 miles without issue. Dash gauge read in normal range the entire drive. 1 fuel stop with another normal start up. Just risked it for the biscuit. 👀 Planning on driving a little this morning if cold start up sounds normal to pick up a tester...

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Haha! Well, I was seeing that angle too but I don’t see any abnormalities with the old filter and they also thread on just fine (no force). I wouldn’t be able to tell you what number filter this is, but I do routine oil changes, and always have, since acquiring this jeep in 2016 and I’ve never...

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Awesome, thanks for the replies you guys. I’m finishing up doing a field cleaning (I happened to have a spare filter with me… another Fram). But I’ll be giving it a fire here soon.

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Hey Mac, how would the gases do something like this? Just trying to see the picture better.

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

Whoa.. wouldn’t there be more signs? Since the noise started, I’ve driven about 500+ miles. Mostly highway

    Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

About 1000 miles on this oil filter, a Fram PH16. I started hearing a strange rattle on cold starts, but this morning it had an audible shift in the sound, and I shut the engine off and found the puddle of oil and engine all oil all over the compartment. upon inspection, I could see that part of...

Cranks, won't start after checking voltage at fuel pump plug (throws P0340 now)

Ha!! Thanks once again guys! NOWWW the jeep is running better than it ever has in the 8 years I’ve owned this one. When initially getting in the compartment and giving pinch and wiggles. I found my culprit. The CKP! The wiring I “fixed” at the connector, was not fixed. So I fixed it and it’s...

Cranks, won't start after checking voltage at fuel pump plug (throws P0340 now)

I replaced the upstream o2 sensor and fuel pump. Went for a test drive. Everything performed great for a few minutes. Then I came to a stop and the engine wanted to die; really low rpms. Then when accelerating, it started bucking and dying. I pulled over and it was running terribly, really low...

Hey thanks, I'll have a look at it. Appreciate all the help. ,Daniel

Cranks, won't start after checking voltage at fuel pump plug (throws P0340 now)

Okay, tested voltage at the connector with the pump unplugged and I’m getting 12V there. But I rented a fuel pressure tester and learned a lot. With about 4 turns of the ignition to prime the system, I only saw a rise up to about 20psi. One crank and it got to nearly 30psi and stubbornly fired...

Cranks, won't start after checking voltage at fuel pump plug (throws P0340 now)

Ha! Thanks for the reminder. I’ll have to check when I get home tomorrow afternoon. The part of the wiring harness was a plug that either went to my CKS or my throttle body. Can’t remember now. I got so zoned in on the start issue that I totally forgot to continue checking what I started all...
