Anyone know the bolt size for the hood ground strap?

I just remembered I have a tap and die set, so I ran a tap through it. Seems to be M6x1.0. Which I think is the same as the "thread cutting screws" that hold the rear taillights to the tub. Which aren't quite sheet metal screws.

Anyone know the bolt size for the hood ground strap?

I mean sure I just hate self tappers so I would like to avoid it if possible.

Suddenly intermittently stumbling while accelerating, idling fine

Update - problem still exists. I replaced the coil yesterday with a Blue Streak one per recommendation above. But still is throwing code. Right before the coil was installed it was the worst it's ever been. It would not run. Just sputtering and death. Right after I installed the coil, it also...

Anyone know the bolt size for the hood ground strap?

See picture for ground I'm referring to. Was checking my grounds yesterday and this one was loose (likely from the paint job I had a while back. Just looking for the bolt size/thread pitch.

What have you 3D printed for your TJ?

I use Kubuntu! Love it. Gnome is too mac-like in its philosophy. KDE is more Win-7ish in it's design philosophy, and unlike Gnome will still let you tweak everything to your hearts content. I do similar, but I also use Duplicati w/ Backblaze B2 as a backend for offsite. Just in case the...

What have you 3D printed for your TJ?

I use FreeCAD! I use it because I am one of those weirdos running Linux exclusively, and doesn't want my designs locked up in someone else's cloud. FreeCAD checks both boxes - they publish an appimage, and files stay on my machine. I tried to get Fusion running in Linux with wine but it...

What have you 3D printed for your TJ?

Get it. You can stuff it full of dessicant and it becomes your first dry box. And it's great to have even if printing single color, because as a roll gets low you can put in a new one in another slot, and you don't have to babysit it, it'll just automatically do the spool change and continue the...

Yup, RockAuto wins as always, and the TODO list of Jeep jobs continues to grow lol

Suddenly intermittently stumbling while accelerating, idling fine

Got it. OK so just toss a new coil into it then. Will look for the Blue Streak. EDIT - Nice, way cheaper than the Mopar one too.

Suddenly intermittently stumbling while accelerating, idling fine

Once I pulled the codes, I searched the forum for the code and found this thread. It sounds similar, but since I've got a 1998 I've got a coil and distributor, not coil packs. Is there a similar test procedure for the older ignition setup? The FSM for 1998 only seems to talk about testing coil...

Suddenly intermittently stumbling while accelerating, idling fine

Well, my wrangler (98 4.0 Auto) is the latest car to be angry with me. Drove it for the first time this week. Sat idling for about 5 min before I left the house. About 2 blocks away from the house, all of a sudden while accelerating reasonably lightly from a stop, started stumbling and...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Did the tune up today - new NGK plugs & wires, cap and rotor from Summit Racing's house brand. Glad I finally did it too. I had a mechanic do an inspection after I bought it, he said they were good. I think these are 1998 original plugs and wires, all were Mopar. The electrodes were so worn...

How to change your spark plugs

Appreciate this thread. I was looking at the #1 plug on my 4.0 and wondering what magic it was gonna take to access. Gave me the confidence to YOLO it with the pliers.

OEM style diff covers with drain plugs?

Great, ordered. Looking forward to having drain plugs and being able to make this a 15 min job going forward.

OEM style diff covers with drain plugs?

Nice. Summit has those too, and they are cheaper. I am curious though, do you fill to the bottom or top fill plug? I wonder why there are two plugs... Also, is the drain plug magnetic?

OEM style diff covers with drain plugs?

Necro'ing this thread - anyone have a testament to the quality/clearance of these Yukon ones on a stock suspension? I don't have a lift or anything, nor do I plan on modding the suspension. I've got a pavement princess, I just want drain plugs for future drain/fills. I did find the rear one in a...

How to clean your IAC (Idle Air Controller) valve

Did this job today. The biggest hurdle I ran into when disassembling the throttle body was the screws holding the IAC housing to the throttle body. They weren't standard T20 Torx, they were safety Torx. So I had to go buy a safety Torx bit set to do the job. Let's hope this fixes the...

STICKY Share Your 3D Design Files (or Sell a DIY Part)

Folded things "right" yesterday, definitely a difference! I am curious - what do you do with your strap when it's closed? Do you just remove it entirely? Or somehow wrap it around the sportbar?

STICKY Share Your 3D Design Files (or Sell a DIY Part)

LOL the best way to find the answer to something is to post the wrong answer (my design) on the internet. Appreciate the links, now I'm down a rabbit hole. Looks like there's a few solutions, like just jamming that crossbar back towards the back. Will need to investigate. Damn, does Bestop's...
