Tacoma TRD Off Road oem front suspension (Bilsteins) are a direct bolt up to your 4runner. I am very happy with them on my 2007 (they fit 5th gens too). The 4runners are so soft and weird to drive stock. Bilsteins or similar are a requirement.

Sorry, late to the game. My stock 4.8 is exactly what the Jeep should have come with. It’s sufficient, but it’s not fast or thrilling by any means. I don’t really know that I am happy I chose the 4L60.

A few non personal photos of the trip. The 4Runner is rock solid, but not ideal for this, though neither is the LJ. I actually am glad I took the 4Runner though the LJ would have been way more cool, there are other potential fits for the LJ though, lot of thinking ahead.

Trip to Colorado and Moab completed. 1/4 million mile 4Runner was almost flawless (small insignificant issues). Now time to think of what I want from this LJ. The trip was a little enlightening to some goals.
