How To LS Swap Your TJ

I appreciate that! It was a lot of planning to make things look factory and what I did to the TJ has been helping me with the LV swap I am working on my LJ. Thats a tough question, but for me, the biggest regret would be sticking with the Jeep manual or the axle gearing I picked. And it only...

    LJ Adventure Build

Worked some on the transfer case. Toom the internal bits to a machine shop to throw them in their wash cabinet and I spent sometime media blasting and cleaning the case parts. Wife had fun with wire wheeling the case, she likes the detailing stuff like this. We started assembling it a little...

    LJ Adventure Build

While I was running around doing errands, the radiator decided to start leaking and I managed to get it home. So I had to decide do I get a cheap throw away radiator since I doubt a stock style rad could cool the extra 140hp that the new engine will have or just go ahead and buy a thicker...

    LJ Adventure Build

For my birthday weekend, on top of many other things, my wife and I started the process of tearing down the NP242J to be used for a rebuild, SYE, 6 pinion planet swap and input shaft swap for mating to a 6L80. This was our first Jeep project together and her first time really wrenching on...

    LJ Adventure Build

Got the second rev of the AC bracket back and it works way better. But the only thing I want to adjust is raising the idler pulley boss since the belt interferes with it self wrapping around the water pump and tilting the compressor a bit more so the outer mounting bolt will clear for ease of...

    C170 Connector

I want to add some switches for accessories in the dash, IE fogs, winch, heated seats, etc. I am the type of person that would much rather use the existing connectors to add my own circuits to keep it clean and organized. So I want to find terminals for the under dash C107, C170 and C202...

    LJ Adventure Build

Got the prototype AC bracket and its needs way more work which even before I got the 3D printed part I started redesign foreseeing the issue. But what I have learned from this is I got the forward facing mounting holes on the cylinder head dead on, and I am fairly certain I got the belt...

    LJ Adventure Build

Thanks! Im hoping to start making big strides soon. My biggest hold back is space right now. I need to finish up my buddies 78 Corvette LS swap to free up some garage space. Who ever monkeyed with wiring of this Vette in the past should not be allowed to have wire nuts and duct tape in the...

    LJ Adventure Build

Got the prototype PS pump bracket and I got all the block dimensions correct and need to tweak the pump mounting a bit by opening up some of the holes. So, I am happy about that. Buuuuttttt, I tried to install a GM pulley from the native 2019 Express 4.3 onto a TJ pump. When bottomed out, the...

    LJ Adventure Build

More of the engine is togather. Not a whole let left needed on the engine side except for figuring out the PS and AC. But I think I got the design finalized on both PS and AC brackets and getting the PS pump bracket 3D printed by a coworker first before I get the metal burned and formed. I...

    LJ Adventure Build

This is what I have so far on a mocked up AC and PS bracket. I have something modeled but I am going to have a coworker 3D print off a mockup piece before I have the metal cut and formed for the full thing. The nice thing about the LV compared to an LS or LT is the driver side head is...

    LJ Adventure Build

When I get further along with this I will probably make a dedicated thread on LV swapping. Its definitly very similar to an LS/LT swap but there are lots of things different at the same time. If you can find a core for less than $500, take that into a GM dealer and order 12708189. Thats a...

    LJ Adventure Build

Started working on getting the new motor assembled. Of course when buying a new from factory engine, it should get new factory parts to complete it. Got almost everything GM or ACDelco to put the motor together. Mostly just fuel system components like the high pressure pump, feed tubes and...

    Genright Fuel Tank Slow Fill

Ok to follow up, after the second fill up on the LJ after tank install, slow fill is fixed and it no longer spits back. So maybe the T fitting might help the TJ afterall. Wont be able to test soon since its also down for the winter for projects.

    Aftermarket Motor Mount NVH

I know it was an example you brought up of your experience at the subject at hand, but it is still something I had not considered this as an option for another problem. Either way I do appreciate your input and figured you would be one of the best people that would have some firsthand knowledge...

    Aftermarket Motor Mount NVH

I didn't think of the option for a trans cross member either. I was planning on using a stock GM trans mount that stick fairly low and making a rigid cross member that would need to dip down a bit. But using these bushing I can make a low profile channel cross member and move the bushings...

    Aftermarket Motor Mount NVH

Thats a fair point. I was mostly hoping to see if it was even a difference enough to even bother worrying about it. I did consider the idea of flipping a factory mount at 45 degrees for this project but it does not look like it would have enough rubber support where the weight will be at nor...

    Aftermarket Motor Mount NVH

Could anyone share some first hand experience with aftermarket motor mounts that utilize OEM Clevite rubber control arm bushings and if there was a significant increase in NVH or if it mostly remained the same? How well have the bushings been holding up. Some examples of these types of mounts...

    Genright Fuel Tank Slow Fill

Well filled up the 04 for the first time since getting the tank installed and it unfortunately also had the slow fill issue, just not as bad, like I can go full trigger for awhile but it will eventually shut off, but can hold 3/4 compared to half on the TJ. It also developed the “spit back”...

    Genright Fuel Tank Slow Fill

I am not sure how the canister works but it is connected to the throttle body on the filter side of the throttle blade. So in theory it is open to the atmosphere depending on how the canister works.
