    High Pitch Sound Under Hood

We are hunting a high pitch sound under the hood at idle. The sound get lower pitch and goes away as you rev the engine/push the gas pedal. It sounds like it’s on the driver side, upper part of the engine, it isn’t there when it’s started. It starts a few minutes in after it’s either warmed...

    Random Plug Under Dash

Recently this fell out from under the dash…we have no idea where it goes or if it’s important or if it’s there for an option this Jeep doesn’t have. Any thoughts? Looks like a jumper loop. Yellow with Red strip, 2 pin plug. I’m guessing it is a body mounted plug with that push connector on it.

    Texas TJ RHD Complete Steering

I did a bonehead thing and ordered a RHD steering kit and took too long to get to it before realizing it and now I can't return it. It is complete with tire rod, drag link, stablizer, and hardware. None of it fits an LHD TJ and is no use to us. Will ship at buyers expense. I'll get pictures...

    Camping…while not camping

I am someone who actually likes to use the stuff I own. I have been slowly compiling the things needed for Bikepacking and Jeep Camping. My problem has been making the time to go on trips to do these things often enough to justify owning the stuff. Does anyone else use your camping stuff when...

    Butane Camp Stove

I picked up this cheap little butane stove despite hearing,”they don’t work at elevation” or “you’ll need a ton of butane to actually cook anything” The naysayers were all wrong. This is a fantastic cooker. I used it to boil water for coffee 3 times, cooked 4 meals at 10,000+ and 11,000+...

New Camping Boxes/Dewalt Tough System 2.0

So I found these dewalt boxes at the hardware store and figured they might make a good camp kitchen setup. Both boxes together about $200. Drawers are sturdy and latch closed, latches all seem to work well and the foot print is way better than my old boxes I was using that didn’t fit really well...

Winch Mount and In Dash Wiring

This is our little Jeep TJ “The Pickle”, my kids and I have been working on it and one of our next big projects is adding this winch. It was taken off my dad’s jeep in favor of a Ramsey Patriot 9500 and has been sitting 5-6 years. It was a free winch so figured we should give it a home on the...

    Camp Chairs and Back Injury

I am trying find a camp chair that can work with my back problems. I have a lower disc herniation and good lumbar support is crucial along with not being too acute of an angle while sitting, it causes the disc bulge out more. Small and packable, small enough to pack on a bicycle or throw. In the...

1997 TJ Sport Fog Light Circuit

We have spent a while today trying to trouble shoot the fog light circuit in our 97 TJ. We don’t have the factory relay/fuse box lid any more and relying on google hasn’t yielded much of a result yet. The interior switch appears to be working correctly. Head lights on, flip fog light switch...

    Sagging Tailgate

Is this much sag from worn hinges? Body tube infrastructure failing? Just bad alignment? Bad Striker location? When I got the jeep it had no spare tire mount or spare so I figure they didn’t have or if they did it was on a tire carrier. Any how, all I have on it is a 31x10.50r15 on an alloy...

    Small Camping Trailer

We have this little trailer that I think could make a cool little camping trailer. I picked it up for $250, added sone 4 lug to 5 lug spacers and the old tires and wheels of our TJ. It has torsion axles on each side. Still kicking around ideas on how to finish it out. The little frame I...

The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

I’ve been a jeep guy for 22 years now 15YO to 37YO(present). My 2 older kids are 12 and 14 so I figured it was about time to get their hands on a vehicle and start learning about tools, repairs, upgrades, etc. The only vehicle I really know well enough is the venerable Jeep TJ. I started looking...
