What did you do to / in your garage / shop today?

More importantly I can use the lift and finish up setting up a new front gear. It was really stupid installing the lift before sheetrocking the ceiling. Maneuvering around the lift was a PIA. But the lift in a lift idea really works well. Making progress on this temporary work bench trying to...

    Gear pattern check

Dana 30. Broke three teeth on the original 4.88s I had in there. Figured I could swap in a new set with minimal changes. Bzzt. Mistake was probably buying cheap Yukon but here I go. Backlash is in spec. My read is the pinion is way shallow. But I wanted an experienced opinion before I pull the...

    High current cable replacements

Generally yes but everything Amazon is a crap shoot. This stuff worked for new battery cables for my dump trailer and scissor lift. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CDLP1Q4L?tag=wranglerorg-20 -Mac

What is wrong with all my thermostats?

Other tricky thing about quality binning is new vehicles. Tier 1 goes to manufacturing. Tier 2 goes for OEM branded replacement parts. T3 gets sold off to top tier brands and T4 goes for bargain parts. Typically once a vehicle is out of production the parts are outsourced to the cheapest...

    From one noise to another

I use my GoPros to help diagnose noises. Might want to put the Jeep up on four jack stands and pop it in gear and listen from the outside. -Mac

    Exhaust relocation

Technically all you need is hood vents and a cracked exhaust header. I'd say you'd find both on a fair number of TJs. If you really want to be classy you need a snorkel up one side and exhaust on the other. Bonus for a tractor flap. -Mac

    Lowering Jeep & CurrectLync Install

Personally I'd go with Currie springs. Can't tell if that's a drop pitman arm from the picture but it might need swapped. I'd recommend an Oro SwayLoc too...and Black Max shocks. I believe they make a tapered sleeve to address drilled out knuckles... that's what they use when they do a tie rod...
