Looking for recommendations for a floor coating or liner

I used the roll on Rustoleum in my CJ5 years ago. My sister and brother in law own the Jeep and the floor liner has held up very well. Prep is important.

Hate it when the previous owners have done stupid crap

That sucks. Looks like you may have to clean up some rust that is forming under the top.

Could non-OE water pump be causing overheating?

Did you replace the thermostat when replacing the water pump? If not, get a Stant Superstat 195* and try that before removing the water pump. Also make sure you got all the air out of the cooling system when you refilled it.

Gimme back my shifter and other random questions

One thing I just remembered, at the time reading of similar issues on other forums, when I drained the Amsoil I filled the transmission with Kerosene, placed the transfer case in neutral, started the Jeep and at an idle ran the transmission through all the gears for about 30 seconds and shut it...

Gimme back my shifter and other random questions

My previous TJ with the NV3550 had the same problem, hard to shift out of gear. Had to do exactly what you are doing to shift. At the time I assumed it had the factory fluid in the transmission (about 60k on the Jeep). I talked to a couple of transmission guys I knew and they had no answer for...

    Is this the pinion seal?

Pinion seals are a pretty common problem. The rubber portion separated from that metal flange. You'll need to remove that metal flange and install the new pinion seal. The updated link I posted will explain it very well.

Funny / mean trick to play on a friend

Back when I first got into Jeeps, I had a 78 CJ5. A group of us were up on the Fordyce Trail in the Sierras, and after a short stop I took off only to hear this loud slapping noise under my Jeep. I stopped and looked under my Jeep to find one of those large cable ties around my rear...

    Is this the pinion seal?

Here's a link on how to replace your pinion seal with pictures. Way better than I can explain it. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-replace-a-pinion-seal-on-your-tj.2135/#post-297807

    Is this the pinion seal?

That's just the actual seal. There's still the metal flange portion of the seal to remove.

Funny / mean trick to play on a friend

Years ago a friend put a rebuilt transmission in his Bronco. That night his neighbor went over and poured about half a quart of ATF under the Bronco. Next morning my friend came out to find all of that ATF under his rebuilt transmission........ :)

Best way to prep for coolant overhaul?

HuskerJeep, I have the Hayden Fan Clutch on my Jeep. Just so you know it stays engaged more than the factory fan clutch, which means you will hear the roar of the fan more. During hot weather it will engage at every stop light, which didn't happen with a new Mopar Fan Clutch on my previous TJ...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I ordered the factory radiator clamps here: https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/parts-list/2003-jeep-wrangler/cooling-radiator-related-parts.html?Filter=(E=ERH;T=DDD;M=Sport)&PNC=29 Rich

Another colonoscopy to not look forward to today

I went through this with my Dad 5 years ago. Melanoma got him. He was one of those who only went to the Doctor as his last choice. I understand how you feel and felt the same way. It was absolutely the hardest thing I'd ever experienced, and seeing him dwindle away like that was something I...

Another colonoscopy to not look forward to today

I'm scheduled for April 1st. My second one. I agree the prep is the worst, but not eating for over 24 hours is a close second.

Sometimes you don't get what you think you're getting

Stuff doesn't happen until you need things the most. I realize you've probably heard of these electrical suppliers, but Del City and Waytek wiring have great selections of switches if Fry's doesn't work out.

Jeep won't start once it's up to running temperature

It should prime all the way down until you run out of fuel.

    Fog Light Relay

I have the common issue of my fog lights turning on on their own at times. So until I have the time to replace or repair the multi-function switch I removed the relay. When I removed the relay I found that one of the blades on the relay was bent over as you can see in the picture. Is this...

Jeep won't start once it's up to running temperature

When it won't start, when turning the key from the off to the run position, can you hear the fuel pump run briefly? Maybe the fuel pump is loosing prime. Next time it won't start turn the key from off to run several times and then try starting again. Mine did this a couple of years ago. Ended...
