I didn’t know they made the liberty diesels. I’ve only ever seen one and it was from NY. Did they sell those in CA?
I have about a dozen of the express vans with that Duramax to take care of. You don’t want one 😂
I dreamed about the scarab a lot. In high school, they were in the rebuildable/parting out section all the time. The 240 with a Chevy 327 from the factory, just in case you never heard about it. I’ve talked to some owners at shows and full restos are next to impossible on any of the old Z’s...
Very true. I get sued if I throw parts at problems so I always have to diagnose the cause first. Are you talking about the detent in the switch that locates it in position? Is that what was sticking? I’ve seen Fords do that a lot. Their multi switches are the worst.
I would check your grounds on the back of the grill. Just above where your headlights plug in on both sides, there’s a single wire bolted to the grill. Those are the grounds for the front lights. Make sure those are clean and free of rust. You can clean them with a wire brush or sandpaper.
You’re absolutely right. I was just pointing out that all the sensors and fuel injectors and whatnot have denso on them. Honestly, I’d rather have denso electronics on my Chevy anyway. Not that I don’t like Chevy, I own a Silverado. I’ll do you one better! The 2.8L Duramax 4cyl. Is made by an...
Not bad at all. I think we’d all agree the American manufacturers could use an infusion of that Japanese reliability on some of their products. Love MR2’s. You have pics up somewhere? I currently have a 94 GSR that’s so track car it’s not really street legal but the CHP owes me one 😂. I started...
I totally agree that different things happen and fluid flows differently depending on gear which affects how various trans are checked. Like you said, torque converter drain back or fluid flow through the cooler, etc. I think we’re on the same page for what we’re trying to get after though. Now...
I’m definitely new here. I have been a master auto tech my whole life and I own an 01 which I’m sure you know is the 32. I’ve changed bands, clutches, and seals in 3 so far. I’m not sure what you mean by the pump not running in park. The trans oil pump is in the very front of the case and is...
The pump is driven by the hub of the torque converter so the fluid is flowing anytime the engine is running. One of the main reasons to check level while in gear is that a lot of transmissions don’t circulate fluid through the cooler till it’s in gear. Newer transmissions have a thermostatic...
I appreciate it, but it’s already bought and in route. I had to buy the stock tube to the throttle body too. Mine had a Banks cold air that doesn’t work with the fenders well.
What he said. If you do a proper fluid check and it’s full, then you have an internal fluid leak. Usually one or more of the seals inside is bypassing until it expands a little from getting some heat in it. Idling won’t heat the trans up very fast. The trans only really generates heat under...
I need to come visit you! I had to look, in my area you can’t find a TJ on CL for under $13k or a JK under $25k. I think we need to set up a Jeep smuggling racket
I don’t think anyone in the auto industry uses KBB anymore. Insurance adjusters and dealerships use market value now because prices vary so much by location. Just like P man said, I’d check the pricing in your area on similar models.
I know the trick. I mentioned it in a later post. I’ve been an auto tech all my life and I’m ocd level dedicated to my field. My intentions here are not for anyone to be right or wrong. The original statement was to spray the alternator. Implying pressured water. I’m not saying the alternator...
I just don’t want to assume the poster knows that and he causes himself more trouble. You weren’t specific about that. Spraying it quiets the belt. You can’t get water into the bearings. They are sealed bearings.
