    Return of P0344

Your story sounds very similar to mine. Crank sensor was changed a couple of times too, but no lasting change with any of it. When you say that the original sensors, you went back to the sensors that came installed in your jeep, right? That part I'm screwed on. Really hoping they can do a...

    Using Factory Rocker Switch Panel

Here's a little two-relay setup that I put together for halo headlights in a CJ-8. The main power source came from the factory circuit. In this case, there was no need for an additional fuse/s like you would probably need, but the setup could still be very similar and minimal.

    Using Factory Rocker Switch Panel

You would need to add in a dedicated circuit. Technically speaking, you could tap everything into one and share the same circuit, but the OEM fuse and relay that is dedicated to your fog lights likey wouldn't support the load. Not only that, but the OEM circuit with it's fog light relay may...

    Return of P0344

Now that I've read through Bill's findings, I'm thinking the same thing. Definitely hitting a rev limiter. Wasn't able to take it in to a shop today. I do have a Crown OPDA that I bought and set aside, so I may put that in before I take it to the dealership. I can't imagine they would install...

I was wrong about part of this. What I had the dealership do was a PCM flash from this TSB, so now Bill's suggestion sounds even more like it will be the one that pulls me out of this.

Right. I knew of that and heard of many going to the original and having success, but finding one now is the problem. Finding one a year and a half ago was a problem. Those were/are nearly worth their weight in gold. Did you read through the link to Bill's thread that Chris shared?

I've gone over my wiring fairly recently while trying to pinpoint another oddity, and found no damages there.

The video I made was too long to upload, but you can see here what it's doing.

    Return of P0344

No doubt! Not uncommon here in this small town. Had I known beforehand, I would have taken this issue straight to the dealership.

    Return of P0344

I think you may be right. I always log any maintenance done, so I went back and looked at what all was done from the start. The shop I took it to, they put in the duralast OPDA and sensor. The shuttering problem seemed to have left, but it returned within a week or so. I went back and they...

    Return of P0344

Man, that's a good thread. Just read through it. My OPDA has been changed twice, and the sensor three times. I don’t think that was ever done to mine. I did take it in to the chrysler dealership to have a relearn done. That was done around the same time as the first OPDA problem, but it was...

    Interesting OPDA findings

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing this info, Bill.

I'm using a Dorman. The shop I took it to initially, they tossed my oem sensor.

Overlooked your reply. I haven't yet. I'm going to try to get it to a shop to do that, hopefully this week

    Return of P0344

I'll get a video of it when it happens. I can't remember if the needle on the tach jumps or not, but rpms of the motor sure does. It's as if I'm continually pulling my foot off the pedal and pushing it back down, in a rhythmic pattern, and it won't stop until I take my foot off the throttle.

    Return of P0344

Weird. The shuttering that it's doing now is the same as it was a couple of years ago. When it happened the first time, I took it to a shop. They put in a Duralast unit and sensor, and told me that I needed to replace the cam shaft and lifters too. I know for sure the cam shaft has some...

@Chris I just saw your reply and another in the "If you could choose your year model again" thread. You guys seem pretty chill about the OPDA in the '05 and '06. This thing has been a thorn in ass. What have I missed with fixing this thing?

    Return of P0344

It lasted close to a year and a half, but OPDA frustration has returned. Man, this issue is beyond annoying and frustrating. In January of 2017 I installed the Dorman OPDA and sensor and the worst of the issues were gone, until yesterday. With mine, it creates a shuttering-like issue. Push...

    ATV toolbox recommendations for Jeep?

I'm not familiar with the going price for boxes of that size, but I can say that the UWS brand is the brand to shoot for, here where I live. They make really nice boxes. They have a softer, quieter close, higher quality welds, latches, and finish. As a comparison, I recently helped install a...

Junk Yard or Automotive Art Museum?

Man, you always take great pictures. Very cool! I'm the same way with junk yards. I couldn't afford to buy anything aside from a few parts from any of them, but that never has really mattered. I just like walking around and eyeballing everything. Bonus if the yard is like the one in your...
