Why have TJs come down in price?

Seasonal too Id say. Not everyone thinks a jeep us the best thing in snow and sub 0 temps, and like anything you can ask whatever you want, don't mean its gonna sell. Just ask the 200+ jeep owners with them for sale in my neck of the woods.

    Transmission Skidplate Crossmember Bolt Loose

Mr. Mexico, all apologies for my comment. Yes, indeedy asking questions makes for knowledge. Recon I got lost in what seems to be 90% of the jeepers where I now live taking a hacksaw or can opener to the body where the flares were, adding enough florescent lights in the wheel wells to scare off...

Looking for a Haynes Manual for my 97 TJ

Both hayes and clymer are regulars for incorrect info IMO. The best manual is a real service manual. That being said, its all pretty straight forward far as lubes holes, and brands are much a personal favorite kinda thing on most things. Some trans'es use specific type fluids and all that can be...

    Transmission Skidplate Crossmember Bolt Loose

Your right and I should apologize. Just reminds me of the desert race days. Dude would throw a chain miles from a check point and cry and have the pit crew recover his bike cause he couldn't get a chain back on the sprockets. Buy a jeep or something your gonna hopefully get lost in somewhere far...

    Transmission Skidplate Crossmember Bolt Loose

Ok, I'll be a dickhead here. Im amazed how many own jeeps, beat on them, and have no idea what the holds them together or how to fix them.

    P0432 code possible fix

Interesting as I figured they would get ruined cleaning them. Far as aftermarket cats, my ZJ needs one. Sheesh man, $29 on ebay. Bet that one will last a lifetime. Better than the failed Toyota 4.0 Cats when we was in Ca. $2500 for the two literally weeks after it hit 100K when the emissions...

    Parasitic draw / DVM help

I did charge it Friday, but never checked the voltage after it sat unhooked a few hours later. Need more testing, however its just raining to hard today to mess with it.

    Parasitic draw / DVM help

Yeppers, that's what bugs me is the 12.4v read from 2 meters in the am. I need to let it sit for several days and check the volts but its getting driven daily and topping up the battery again.

    Persistent coolant leak

1/2 a quart a month is something Id be concerned about myself. You shouldn't lose any IMO. Still doesn't account for the radiator failures though.

    Parasitic draw / DVM help

Load tested no, however sitting at 12.4V and starting it with a good DMV it drops to 11.4ish IIRC. The battery is 3 years old as well. I charged the battery and it seemed to charge normal, charging system puts the battery at 14.2V as well. Maybe its just a weak battery as Im beginning to...

    Preparing for TAT

Bag extra U joints. But bring good shoes for walking miles if the need arises. I did SAR for a while and was amazed how easy it is to get screwed up. DAHIK.

    Front drive shaft u-joint

Unless I missed something that play is the pinion/ring gear and pretty much normal. If you question The U joints shake the DS back and forth. The caps will stay put, or should and the cross section will move in the caps.

    Parasitic draw / DVM help

Yes, I started with the 10 amp probe socket and saw nothing. Then moved the probe to the middle/Ma socket with the black lead in the ground setting. Its like .02 is OK but .2 is bad. So which do I have, Ok or not OK, sheesh. And to think I once was a math wizard of sorts.

    Parasitic draw / DVM help

Trying to track down a parasitic draw on a 98. I cant recall what's what on my DVM. When set at 200Ma I get a .2 reading, or set at 20Ma I get a .02 reading. Is this excessive? IIRC, 50Ma is normal on todays ECM equipped vehicles. So what would 50 Ma draw look like set at 20Ma or 200 Ma dvm...

    Persistent coolant leak

I may be wrong but I think what Chris is getting at is leaked compression into the cooling system causing seam failure. A crap shoot as it may be, when you pressure test the cooling system id guess its cold and holds the 18psi. Once warmed up cracks or leaks can expand and overpressure the...

    Before and after build

And to think it only took DC, stellantis FCA, PSA 16 years to build something the way it should have been built so you didnt have to spend thousands to get there. :geek:

    Sliding rear pinion

True, but one could likely buy the tools needed from HF for less than a shop will charge to do bearings at a minimum. Cant never have e'fuff tools. :p
