Dang. Crazy how things are relatively slow when it comes to deals and then two good ones just happen to pop up the same day.Ad is gone as well![]()
I'll bet it comes back legit; pulling the ad down in good faith for a potential buyer doesn't sound like something a scammer would do on something that's a hot ticket like that.Ok so funny story. That guy actually deleted that ad for me. I had cash and told him I'd buy it if it passed my inspection, which it did. It was actually black and wasn't perfect which is fine, because I want something I'm not worried about beating up. I was hoping to surprise you guys but there's bad news.
Anyhoo after going over it end to end, I take a look at the title and notice something is "off" about it. Maybe it was just me, but it looked like it had been photocopied. It was a Missouri title and looked really good, but the lines weren't quite straight. Almost looked like it had been copied with a slight fold. The guy that showed me the jeep was the nephew of the owner, so he said he would look into it first thing and let me know.
Other than that, it ran well, had a 4" lift with 33s, nice stout engine, 6-speed which I actually really enjoyed. WAY smoother than the NV3550 or AX15. Lockers worked well, 4:1 TC was unreal. Told the guy that if the DMV confirmed the title was good and jeep was clean I'd come back to buy it. Only cost me $15 in gas and for $8k I have plenty of room to fix it up nice.
I had that happen to me last year when I got my 1999 XJ. The ad got taken down within an hour of going live. I thought I lost it, but the seller reached out and said he got a lot of interest and would give me the first shot at it since I reached out first.I'll bet it comes back legit; pulling the ad down in good faith for a potential buyer doesn't sound like something a scammer would do on something that's a hot ticket like that.
I had a similar experience when shopping for mine. Found one that I was close to buying but the guy had some story about why he didn't have the title yet from Colorado. While most of the pieces added up, there were just enough details missing that made me 'press pause', and I wound up going a different route. More often than not, the gut feel is the way to go. Fingers crossed it all lines up as it sounds like it's just what you're looking for!
It really was. It was already beat on physically so I didn’t have to worry about beating it up, but it ran like a champ. Needed just a little TLC but nothing that I couldn’t handle.Fingers crossed it all lines up as it sounds like it's just what you're looking for!
So did the title come back legit and did you seal the deal or still in limbo? It really was. It was already beat on physically so I didn’t have to worry about beating it up, but it ran like a champ. Needed just a little TLC but nothing that I couldn’t handle.
Haven’t heard back but I just sent him a text. I’m sure there were other interested parties and he just jumped to the next guy.So did the title come back legit and did you seal the deal or still in limbo?
Looks like he re activated the ad and changed it. May have dodged a bullet there! I pointed out that the 4x4 was janky (TC drop) and the locker lights kept flashing but I could feel them working.Weird, the link above now goes to a completely different Jeep. It's now a 2006 silver or white LJ (possibly LJR).

Ad looks sketchy as hell though. Photos are small and not from any part of Arizona that I recognize.
