Just thought I'd share. I'd never done this or paid attention of anyone else had done it. After talking with a buddy, talked me out of cutting off a head and punching it out.
It's actually two pins, and splined at the outer ends. We found best to weld something to the pin head, and drive/slide hammer it out. I welded an old bolt to it and used a chisel and small sledge. After a few whacks it came loose then was easy. Used a long punch to drive the other side out.
I'm going to use a 7/16 bolt since I don't remove it often, but a 7/16 ball detent pin works well too.
