So I've got this old Porsche resto in limbo right now...I was gonna take the factory seats to the dump.

Kinda like our TJ's parts, I thought, well maybe they could go to a good home, at least I'll give them a chance to not end up in a land fill....The CL ad basically said "1969 Porsche seats, in very good condition for being 51 years old. Not concourse, but not far off, $100 obo."

They sold in 20 minutes!

This was the only picture, buyer didn't ask for more pics, we spoke on the phone and he PP'd me the full amount.
He said he'd figure out how to get them to Dallas from NC.

I'm still shaking my head over this.

Too cool.

I had a chance when I was 17 to buy a ‘71? 911? First year Mechanical FI. I can’t remember.

Anyway, this thing was nice, like 60k on it. Sat for many years and the owner wanted to fix it and brought it down the the mechanic I worked with. After a week and lots of issues....the mechanic was a great one but not a Porsche guy, the owner gave up and wanted 3k. I was broke, in love with the car and hate myself every day thinking about it.

I LOVE old air cooled 911’s. I can’t afford them. But I love them.

Sorry, brought back memories.

He is interested in buying the whole car..but my wife won't let me sell it. I butchered the shit out of it. Cut the roof off, dropped the windshield four inches, shaved the door handles off (we were in Texas at the time and it was to be a "summer only car"). Motor has 86k on it but was seized when I bought it. I did a full rebuild w/ Webers and a big bore kit, down to the original German decals. Had the head milled. I hand laid a fiblerglass "clam shell" for the rear and welded in wider rear fenders in from a later model...Pics are old.

Enthusiats parts are easy to sell cheap when you set an already really low price. I am sure you could have probably gotten more if you really wanted to, but I get it. Garage space is more importan than cash at times, and the fact you get cash at all is a bonus. Any potential buyer for stuff like that is on the hunt at all times. As soon as it pops up they jump. I sold a YJ top and upper doors for $300 within an hour, was fine to get rid of it at that price since I had to store it outside in my yard.

Btw that is a beautiful project!

Same boat, When I lived in Dallas I almost pulled the trigger on a '69 Jag XKE, but then thought to myself "How am I going to get to work when it breaks", I was young...thankfully, not that dumb.

Have a friend with a fully restored 1964, I think. It’s a great looking car. Was his grandpa’s.

For me it was a Jensen Interceptor. Two of them, actually. Both nice, both running and driving vehicles. At the time, they were just considered an "odd" car. In fact, the dealer was literally taking notes as I gave him the information on them. I passed on them, as my infant son's car seat would not fit in the back seat. Looking back, I realize now that I blew an opportunity, big time!

I don't have any good 911 stories but I bought a 924 for $400 that had been sitting outside with a leaking sunroof for a few years. It was owned by the son of a client that traded it in to the Ford dealer I was working at. They just wanted out of their yard.
So I gave the dealer $400 plus the tow bill. They'd only gave $200 for it. Pushed it into my bay and took 3 days off from work. I went a visited the local foreign car shop and got some pointers and advice.

Interior was covered in mold and the wiring was chewed on from mice. After a little bit of work I got the thing running and drivable.

I know not considered a REAL Porsche most likely the only one I'll ever own. My dream Porsche is a 944 Turbo but it would be a summer only car where I live and I don't need anymore seasonal rigs.

Might not tick the box for 911 purists but the 928’s have a serious following as do the 944’s!

A buddy of mine who just retired has a low-mileage one, in red. He absolutely loves the car. Under 40,000 miles on it, if I recall correctly. Has owned it for at least a dozen years. I would like a 928 GTS, myself, but know that I will never actually own one.

I see random parts (mostly Porsche) go for crazy money on Bring a Trailer. Mostly interior stuff.

I put a set of interior door panels from an old 6 series up on Craigslist years ago when I was in FL, not long after I listed them a guy from Tennessee drove down & gave me what I was asking. You never know who's out there.

You gave them away at the price, locally they could be sold Between 400-700 due to the limited market

I wasn't sure what they were, so I had to Google. Thought I had heard the name, but no warm and fuzzies.

Wow, bad-ass car, and yes, kick yourself... I'm kicking myself for knowing the story 😦
