I pulled him off the Xbox by saying: Hey dude you want to destroy stuff w/ a hammer and build something at the same time. His response on his mic "Hold on guys, I'll be back in a few".

We need to tweak it a little, but it's pretty cool.
 
Even though louvers are not near the top of my preferred options list, I clicked on this figuring I'd see some on a 1950s hood that has seen better days to begin with.

I'm very impressed not only with what I actually get to see here, but also the fact that he left his Xbox to do this.

Thanks! The kid actually loves building stuff (and breaking stuff) He has been using a chop saw since he was 6 (supervised), helped me build his "fort bed" a few months ago, designed the height he wanted and made most of the cuts. He did the stain himself.
