Doing tub prep. How do I remove these? I call them tailgate sensors. There is no wiring clip from the under side.
Thanks

If you don't use a 3rd brake light cut and cap the wires and plug the holes with plastic plugs. If you do and need to temporally remove them cut and splice them back together.

Just unplug them. The silver contact has a male end bullet connector. The black part is the female part of the bullet connector.

Correctly, they are the contacts for the 3rd brake light.
As always, Thank you very much.

So will the button contacts attach with bullet connectors? Have to wire up my3rd brake light soon and wasn’t sure how to connect the buttons. I was going to just connect the bare wire with some shrink wrap and hope for the best.

Would something like this work?

From Blaines explanation; the contact pads Just unplug from the bullet connectors.

There are two sets of these contact pads; one set in the Jeep tub and one set attached to a mounting bracket with plastic cover on the hatch. There is a short wiring harness that attaches to the hatch contact pads and is goes thru a grommet in the hatch and goes up to the 3rd brake light. You shouldn't have a problem wiring up an aftermarket 3rd brake light once you determine which wire is the ground on the new brake light and old brake light.

I should reiterate, my contact buttons on the tailgate itself were missing. The black grommets were there but no buttons. I went and ordered new buttons but wondering how to connect the buttons themselves to wire.

So basically all I have are these and need to connect wire to them.

They are a bullet type connector, female on the wires. I do not know the size.

To visualize mrblaine’s point you have the black female plug that is on your 3rd brake light harness, you have the male metal pin that just pushes into the rubber grommets in the tailgate and plugs into the female connector under the plastic tailgate cover. The size of the male pin is .184”
