I went to start my jeep today and it clicked once then nothing. I thought maybe a dead battery even though its fairly new, so I tried jump starting with no luck. Checked fuses and realized the ASD fuse had blown. So I replaced it and it popped again when I tried starting it. The gas gauge and battery gauge are also not working. I tried checking around the o2 sensors and fuel injectors for worn or melted wires but saw nothing obvious. I will dive into the wiring deeper tomorrow. Any other suggestions on what I can look for or try? It is a 2006 4.0 automatic, no recent modifications or anything. Thanks for any help you can give.

Begin by swapping in the horn relay.

Common areas for a short are where the harness runs behind the valve cover or next to the A/C receiver/drier.
Remove the coil rail and inspect the loom from the valve cover all the way down the block. If you don't see anything yet, remove the battery and inspect the harness from the PDC to the PCM. You can also remove the bolts that hold the PDC and see if there is a damaged wire on the underside.

Look at the attached schematic. Three of the four legs the ASD fuse is protecting go to the PCM (two of them go through the ASD relay first). You can start by pulling the ASD relay and seeing if the fuse blows. That should help narrow down where to look.

Awesome thanks guys. I should be able to dive into it more tomorrow afternoon and I will update ya'll with anything I find out. Thanks again for the help.

Well I got time this morning to work on the jeep and I threw a new fuse in and it started right up. I tried moving around the wires that I inspected the other day, hoping it would short out again but had no luck. I left the battery disconnected for a few days, is there anything that could have gotten reset that was causing the ASD fuse to blow? I am worried to drive very far because I assume there is still a short somewhere, just not sure where?
