Do 38s fit with no lift? The question nobody asked

Don’t you think that if everyone followed the good advice and wisdom of the Internet that places like rough country would be out of business?

But that's a blanket statement for pretty much anything, a cheaper, less quality product exists for pure price point. Honestly, a 4" RC lift with adjustable arms even comes with rear drive shaft and SYE if you need it. So, there's is nothing "wrong" with that lift, its just not high quality.

I received another email inquiry from GC. Not fully believing (right or wrongly) that they have been reading the thread and just not commenting, my reply consisted of a link to the thread.
I got this back from them. Not sure where to go from here.

Read through the first two pages..

You can do as you wish. Lots of hate in the jeep world. Lots of different styles but unfortunately people assume the worst in others, and are very quick to point fingers. Fortunately, forums are a small subset of people, and ultimately we created our channel to go against the grain...and it's working. If you are still interested feel free to send me things you require of us in the video, etc. If there are specific sponsors you will not associate with, let me know. Thank you for your time and for your consideration.

"we created our channel to go against the grain.... and it's working" is them giving themselves permission to do whatever they want regardless of any wise council they might encounter or quality donated parts that fall into their laps. They won't learn from either.

Well, this isn't my first rodeo and I have the perfect answer for my dilemma. The below is my reply and unless I am a sorely pathetic judge of human nature, I won't hear back from them. If I do, they will be the first ever.

I am aware that I can do as I wish. Unfortunately, what you view as hate, I tend to view as an experienced and informed group of folks which I happen to be a proud member of. Since we seem to be in disagreement over your target audience and their willingness to spend money where you tell them to, I have a solution that works and is a very easy method to both prove that going against the grain will sell parts for me, it will also make you some money. I’m going to sell you the brake kit at full retail with free shipping. I will also give you a very specific code for your viewers to use when they make a purchase of a big brake kit. I will send you 10% of every sale that the code is used on up to double the retail price of the kit. The viewers will get a 5% discount so there will appropriate incentive for them to use the code and you can encourage the same in the videos.

Let me know if that works for you and I’ll send you a link to the appropriate kit for 38” tires.

Regards,

Blaine

That is a wise business move.

That sounds very reasonable. Although, why cap it at double the price of the kit? It would seem that if they are able to point THAT MANY people who normally wouldn't be buying your kit in your direction it'd be mutually beneficial to not have a limit?

Someone on here pissed in their cheerios and screwed up a good thing.

Their reply-

Thank you for the email and reply.

If you associate yourself with the group of individuals sending hate messages, disrespectful comments towards either of us, mocking us, then we are not interested.

Thanks for your offer.

I really don’t understand treating them that way.

I'm only aware of hate of their build, not of them as people. But then again, there's 11 pages plus that other thread so I probably missed where somebody raised the cholesterol in their cheerios.

Some here have already said they sent messages telling them they don’t know what they are doing. It’s easy to be an asshole over the internet.

My reply to that and I was unaware of folks running their mouth, expected it but unaware.

I wasn’t promoting any hate or disrespect but as you alluded to, going against the grain on a build is going to generate some commentary that you won’t like if you are offended easily. You chose the path and if you are certain you are on the correct path, I’m willing to give you a method to prove yourself.

I have a dilemma. These folks contacted me to donate a brake kit for their build. I tendered a tentative yes and then I went and watched the video. Now I'm struggling a fair bit. My issue is there are so many things wrong with putting 38's on the stock axles that I am really having a hard time supporting the project.

This is one of the few times I'll request some opinions from the good folks on here as to whether or not I would see any benefit in giving away a brake kit which is not an insignificant amount.

The question is will I get positive or negative results from the association? Or put another way, when you watch their videos do you want to purchase any of the stuff they use or do you want to stay away from the stuff they use?

Depends on your target customer base.

Myself...
I wouldn't buy anything they suggested.

My first impression is they are more interested in likes, looks, and subscriptions. Which are things I have no respect for.

In the other hand, the younger JK crowd is likely more accepting.

Having not watched their videos and only seeing the thumbnail which was plenty, can anyone fill me in on if they think this build is offroadable and just as capable?? Or is this supposed to be all about that bling and supposed to be in the same category as a SEMA build?
