So my rear view mirror falls down quite a bit and this is the 3rd time having to re glue it. Is there a more permanent mount or something because obviously my glue isn’t working. Yes I have down the prep correctly every time and I’m using rear view mirror glue. I’m looking for a mount that could be mounted to maybe the top of the windshield frame.

I used to do glass in general and never had any problem while in business. I did have a couple mirrors fall off in the distant past when I used store bought kits. The third time back then I tried some Blue (at the time) Silicone and I remember seeing that mirror still on long after I sold that car to a friend. I'd probably try the silcone again if I ever need it. FWIW, I'd probably also just do your mirror for about $20 if you brought it in and I still had my shop. Other shop results may vary.

Use this and follow the directions exactly. It's what worked for me. 3M sucked.

Versachem 11109 Rear View Mirror Adhesive.

I had one fall off a few times using the typical single part store bought kits. The last time I found a two part epoxy made for glueing mirror buttons and it was still on their when I sold the Jeep a few years later

Buy a new windshield and be done.... or just go to a windshield shop. Let the pros do it.

Don’t use too much Of the adhesive. too Much won’t cure well. In this case more is not better.

When I put mine on I cleaned the button and area of the windshield with naphtha (lighter fluid).

Never had any luck with the store bought kits. Probably tried it 4x unsuccessfully. One day the glass guy was at the shop I worked at and he glued it on with whatever they use and it’s been fine for 3 years now.

Just have a glass shop do it.

In my experience less is more when it comes to how much superglue works best for a mirror. It never held for long when I used a lot of the glue thinking more was better.

Years ago mine fell off and I never reattached it. If I'm not mistaking in some states as long as you have fully functional side mirrors on both sides a rearview mirror is optional? I kind of like the clearer viewing area and have never had any problems with state inspections. Out of habit while driving I'm constantly checking my side mirrors for people coming up from behind so I've never missed my rearview mirror.

Silicone adhesive, clear, used for aquariums, found at Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I had the same problem as you, tried permatex and 3M and got tired of it falling off after a couple weeks to a few months so this happened....

Won't be falling off now lol. Plus I'm 6'4" so it's better suited for me up a few inches.

Three times of meticulous prep and using the correct amount of adhesive from three different products and it wouldn't even last a day before coming off!
Had the glass shop do it for $15 and it's been rock solid ever since!

Stuff called Goop. Super strong.
The stuff in the parts store that everybody tries and most fail is because it's been hanging on the rack for years and years. Sometimes you get lucky and get a pack made within the last 12 months, but normally that pack is 3+ years old. It sits in the warehouse sometimes years before it even gets to the parts store.
