It reminds me of something a used car dealer would install as an anti-theft kill switch. Generally they just leave them in vs taking them out.

Anti theft device pull it out it will be a chip without it your engine will not start
Agree I had one on my Dodge. Dealer installs it and if you don't purchase the option they install the loop. If you do buy the option then they give you a FOB that has to pressed before the vehicle will start.

Thanks for the heads up!!! I aint touching it!

Pull it out and try starting the vehicle. See what happens.

That's where I would start.

And risk f'in something up? There been no trouble from it

In my experience, most things cause absolutely no trouble until they do...

Your Jeep. Your decision. But I would rip that crap out before it causes problems. If it can keep your Jeep from starting when it's working, it can keep your Jeep from starting when it stops working. And based on the crude dash attachment, the installation was sloppy at best, ticking time bomb at worst.

My daughter had some crap like that on a used car she acquired. It would kill the battery if it was not driven for a few days.

I also had an aftermarket "security system" on a used truck I bought. I removed it. The way it was installed, it definitely would have caused issues eventually. Wires just twisted together with some electrical tape half-assed wrapped around them. I did my best to restore the factory wiring harness to OEM condition. It was a hacked up mess.

Better to remove it in the comfort of your driveway/garage then be left stranded on the side of the road somewhere wondering why the vehicle is suddenly possessed by evil spirits.

This seems to be the way to go.

After doing this:
Pull it out and try starting the vehicle. See what happens.

Regardless of what it ends up doing.

At least you're aware of the possibilities. It could really be a mess if you weren't and it decided to not play nice.
