Good Morning group. I"m looking at adding an LED fixture to the rear of my jeep for the tail lights. I need more reverse light! I have a black 00 sport. I was the housing to remain black. What is everyone doing for more light back there? I looked into the Savvy LED. They are night but I would like to stay under $150 for the pair. Thanks!

I put in Maxxima( M85416R) on mine. Stop/tail/turn/reverse. Bought them on Amazon for 30 bucks. I like the flush mount look better

Chris - How was the hookup? Any additional things needed?

I installed them in probably 15 minutes tops.

You just need some crimp connectors since you have to cut the three wires off the stock taillight and then connect them to the wires on the new taillight.

You could use solder / heat shrink, or you could use crimp connectors. Either or!

One of the best "cheap mods" I've ever done. These things are so bright it's just wonderful.

What about a mod for the blinker. Did you need anything there?

I added a 3" LED reverse light by simply splicing it into my Reverse light wire. I passed the connection through a SPDT switch with a center-off position so it could be turned on manually from the rear, turn on whenever you shift into Reverse, or always off.

LED lights like this one don't draw enough power to require a relay so they're easily installed. To make it so you can turn it on manually without being in Reverse you'll have to run a wire to the back with a constant 12 volts on it.

This isn't a great pic but it shows how aux LED reverse light looks...

No trying to change the subject but I wired in a rocker Switch for my spots and the light on the switch constantly stays on even when I turn the jeep off. It's a 5 prong switch not 3 but I'm only running the standard 3 wires to it.

It's hard to say what you did wiring-wise so the light in the switch stays on, it's obviously not supposed to. And I've never seen a toggle switch with 5 lugs, that's kind of an odd configuration. Without having a schematic of the switch it's hard to know how to rewire it so the switch shuts off.

Personally I'd replace the switch with a non-illuminated switch. You probably don't need an additional light on the switch to tell you when your lights are on.

How was the install? I'm reading you have to drill one hole in the body to run the lights and you have to manually splice them since the harness does not fit.

There was already a hole from previous owner. They just had cheap trailer lights flush mounted so the round hole was there for these. Had to splice wires with new plug for lights. Relay to stop hyperblinking also.
