Power hungry 4.0: how to give it what it wants?

By longterm I mean that nitrous won't be available full time/on demand like a turbo or supercharger!
Once your 10 or 15 pound bottle is empty you gotta go for a refill
I did think about nitrous for my use case. I want some extra power on demand to pass on our 2-lane highways from time to time. Much of the rest of the time the 4.0L is sufficient.

Another bit of info hoopty is missing is even with a nice power adder like a supercharger, the need for proper gearing is still there. As I've stated previous, when I swapped from the stock size tires on the supercharged 04 Unlimited to the JK 32" take-offs, I despised the loss in driving fun and regeared from 3.73 to 4.88 just to get that back.

And we both know we're just adding some info so we don't get lumped into the "running our mouth with no experience" group that is so prevalent nowadays. Just because we don't often brag about roasting the tires, doesn't mean we didn't enjoy doing it.
Went from 4.0 on 31s to 4.6 on 31s with 3.73 gears behind the AX15. Noticeable difference in power with the larger motor. Then went from 31s to 33s. Thing was an absolute dog. Felt worse than even the tired 4.0 on 31s with 3.73 gears. A week ago I had 4.88 gears installed. This is the peppiest, most enjoyable combination that I have experienced thus far. One caveat, if you don't like the sound of your motor in the 2,500-4,000 rpm range, lower gears, and all the benefits that come with them, are probably not for you.

I will concur. 4.88 and the 5 speed pushing 33s was the best tire/gear/trans combination mine has ever had for drivability.

The Banks turbo totally transformed my Rubicon. I only have 32s and I stayed with the stock 4.10 axles. It is a great combination. I have often wondered if I were to move up to 33s without changing the gears if it would ruin that ideal combination. At any rate, the Banks is no longer available but what about Jezza’s setup? That is probably even better. Not cheap I am sure but much less than an LS.

32 to 33 is probably not noticeable/significant. Having said that, I have a stock 4.0/5-speed on 33s with 4.10s. I live in a generally flat area around 500ft above sea level. My Jeep drives around fine, but I would not want a higher ratio with 33s. I expect to drop down to 4.88 in the future. You're turbo should help move things along compared to my stock engine.

4.10/33s/5 speed was no good on flat ground

I guess to put it another way, I would not recommend someone install 4.10 with 33s, obviously I just mentioned I expect to go lower, but my Jeep came with the current setup and it's good enough that I'm not in a hurry to regear.

Way back when I regeared the first time, the prevailing wisdom was that I should have gone 4.56 with my tire/trans combo. I knew I would likely go to 35s eventually, which is why I went with 4.88 to plan for the future. It became quickly clear that the prevailing wisdom was wrong and was undergearing everyone who followed it. That was when I began running the calculations and learned how very wrong the prevailing wisdom was.
