The salt comment was funny! Oddly enough, when I saw the pics of it on the salt, the first thing I though was "I couldn't do that!" To put all that work into a car, and then take it out onto the mother of all "salted roads"? No thank you. I mean, I get the appeal, what with the history of the lakebeds and hot rods, but I think I'd just get a rental car and go visit. But that's just me.
That makes me think of the fact that if a car does not win, chrome it.
Try the Alvord Desert in Oregon if salt is an issue. 12 miles of pool table flat and smooth gypsum.
That's looking across the desert. It's A LOT further to those mountains than it looks. Got to run Blue, my TJ SE at WOT until good sense took over. Didn't break 100 MPH. Lol

Can someone explain to me why bright "safety" colored things are invisible from inside a vehicle? You're going to have to explain it to me like I'm stupid. I'm asking because years ago I backed in to one of those bright yellow deadman poles, then yesterday I backed my Jeep into my tractor, a Kubota, a very orange Kubota, and I'm the one who parked it where it was. 
I got lucky yesterday and my little receiver mounted skid I have on there to keep assholes off of my spare did it's job. I also got lucky on the tractor side as the skid just hit my back tire and bounced off.
Incase someone doesn't know what color Kubotas are.
On a side note my 5 year old gave me a good burn yesterday. I was doing a brake job and he asked me something to which I replied in a smartass tone "because I'm special", and he instantly shot back "no you're not'.

My excuse in my jeep is that the rear window on the soft top is so faded that I can't see anything behind me.
