Searching "Storage" and "Bins" returns a lot of results but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Anyone have suggestions for two storage bins that fit between the two rear foot wheels side by side. Equal sizes?

The Home Depot yellow lid and red ones don't. The 27 gallon guys.

The irony here is my fridge would fit perfectly next to this guy in the photo, until I put the rack on it.

You can fit 3 Milwaukee pack outs in there. You could also get a locking base plate for them and lock them in place.

This was the suggestion a lot on Facebook. Seems popular.

That one is 37.75” long and wouldn't fit left to right putting the hinges on an inconvenient side to open IMHO. I’ve been looking recently. This is the best option I’ve found: ROAM.

For more, target your searches toward the overland market if you haven’t already.

I use a pelican case (camp gear) and a plano case (hunt gear) on top next to my dometic frdige. All fits well.

Sorry for the lack of actual pics in use.

Mount the rack higher.

PackOut is an expensive and inefficient use of space for Jeep storage. Multiple soft bags are the way to go.

Dont necessarily disagree. Any hard sided vessel will be more inefficient use of space than soft sided where you can jam it in.

They work great for my needs. I have 2 of them and the cooler of yhe same size. If i dont need the cooler it doubles as a bin.

I also like that i can lock the tops of the bins and a lock the bins onto the base making it very secure.

If you need to haul a bunch of stuff, hard boxes are inefficient. Hard boxes work great for my needs.

Those ROAM bins are also 10x the price... it's 2 plastic boxes in the back of your car. Don't think it requires spending $600.

Yes, which is why I enlisted you to do further searching. It also depends on one’s needs. If your not needing any water/dust proof rating and/or you don’t want to have built in tie down locations so you can get in the box without removing a strap and/or you don’t need to lock it for topless overnights at hotels or elsewhere, then you can get any semi-sturdy plastic bin.

I’ll probably do one hard bin and some bags. To each his own. We all have different situations.

Plano option has tie down points as well as padlock compatibility. Bought rubber seals to make water/dust tight. Doesn't need em. Only con I see is not being able to "mount" it without customization like you can with some of the more expensive offerings. Padlock on the lid is no good if they can just walk away with the whole thing.

I ditched my drawer system and went the one bin and bags route. Much more practical for a daily. Rather than strapping stuff down, I run cargo netting attached to the 4 posts of my roll bars. Keeps the stuff below from dislodging, and I can hook packs/duffels on top for more storage.

@jjvw, are you doing your spare tire on top of the hinged apparatus you’re planning? If so, how high up is it approximately off the tub floor?

Yeah, without tie downs that lock just having a padlock on the lid is no good. I’d been thinking about resolving that. But I’ll probably do either only bags or bags plus one bin. The Plano option is decent. There are others I’ll post up if I go revisit various sites I visited in the past.

Don't forget the benefit of keeping things covered. I wish my Fridge was shorter so I could cover all of the back but then it'd be a pain getting things out of it. Need to add a flap to the duster cover. Tools and gear are in bags packed around my spare, recovery and first aid in backpacks incase I need to grab them hike to where they are needed.

If you are totally deleting your backseat, you can use the mounting points in the center and rear of the cargo area as attachment points. I bolted some 2x4s there and mounted airline rail on top of them. You could instead mount plywood or some other sheet good and mount to your heart's content across the whole area.

The tabletop will sit on the tops of the wheel wells. Same height as the roll bar C-pillar base plates. The tire will lay on the table.
