Dangerous road ahead

It may not look like it but this straight stretch of road is dangerous enough to have had at least 4 vehicles run off the road in the last 2 months and take out a pole every time.

The current wreck, sucks when it's 95 degrees outside. I hooked up the generator almost immediately after checking the NES power outage map and noticed 644 customers without power.

I know one of vehicles was a dump truck. I had to turn around for that one. Luckily we have one other road to leave the area or we would be stuck.
The theory is the drop off is so quick, if you let your tire go off the pavement you'll end up in the ditch.

I'm telling you, that's the same road I've seen on a million COPS high speed chase videos. Someone always ends up getting in a wreck too.

Not sure what it is about that road, but man is it crazy!

When I visit my family in IN, every county road looks like that. They don't like how curvey the roads are out here

That explains a lot. Anytime you watch COPS or Live PD and there is a chase, it's almost always a road that looks identical to that. Someone always ends up getting in a wreck.

I'm sitting here wondering how you wreck your car on a road that is entirely straight.

Was just going to mention that!
Indiana where the poles are only 12” off the road and strategically placed at every curve.
If the spacing doesn’t work out to have a pole, they leave a tree stump.
Then each lane is 9’ wide.

I only lived in IN for a short bit and went to college there, yes - all roads outside Indianapolis are pretty much just this. This one probably has a little more elevation than many I used to trek.

I wonder how long until my kids let the "Look at this retard" slip to their mom like I do when driving... But at least I am driving it home that it's really dumb to distract yourself from the most important thing you are doing at the time.

After the last hurricane the one road in and out washed away and left a 25 foot wide canyon.

My neighbor opened his yard to enable cars to pass and access a farm field to a nearby road. This was our road for nearly 60 days.
 
Just adding some context. The road is on a peninsula so you might have driven 2 miles.

The speed limit was dropped from 40 to 35 about a year ago.

Maybe 1/4 mile from that picture is a near 90 degree curve.

They still haven’t fixed the last pole that was taken out. They have the new pole in the ground but they cut the top off the old pole and it’s hanging from the new pole. (You can barely see that in the first picture which is kind of funny because I got the photo from google street view)
 
Just noticed that they replaced the pole but left the old one leaning. The new pole has a cable holding the old pole up.
The electric lines are on all the new poles but I'm guessing it's att/comcast that hasn't moved their lines yet.
