Hello everyone, im new here and this is my first jeep. 2005 X i just bought it had a bum engine so i replaced it with my buddy. Want to know if it has a lift on it but cant tell as i am new to jeeps and suspension mods in general. Currently has 33x12.5s on aluminum 15 inch rims. Looking to switch to 31s to improve road performance

Congrats on your first Jeep. 🥳 Look for BB spacers on top of the springs. Looks like the front fender flares have already been introduced to the tires.
33s with no lift.

First off, welcome to the best forum on the 'net! Secondly, what engine mounts were required to shackle your buddy into the engine bay? Sorry, couldn't resist... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

And to your actual question - you're getting good advice in this thread. The lift on a TJ is done through either different springs that raise the chassis off the axles or by spring spacers that do the same thing. Compare the installed length of the springs at rest plus the height of any spacers to the stock installed spring lengths at rest (12" front/8" rear, as DaveC mentioned) to get your lift amount (subtract the latter from the former).

Several have mentioned how to identify how much suspension lift you may have. Also check for a body lift.

P.s. dropping to 31’s will only improve your ride quality if the tires are crashing into the fenders.

Here’s mine with the same size 33” tires & a 3” lift.
Also, here’s the chart that shows how much lift you’ve got if any lift at all.

Well at the risk of sounding stupid here as I usually might, I too am trying to figure out if and how much my jeep is lifted. When you guys are talking spring height you are referring to sitting on the ground and not removed correct? Spring perch is cupped a little I believe so where on the spring perch for the most accurate measurement? Ill take some pics when I get home and post them. I was going to get the Currie lift this spring but if its already lifted and I can save a little money may just buy the adjustable control arms and whatever else to beef up what's already on there.

So here is where I measured on my Rubicon. So that means I already have a 4 inch lift correct? It doesn't appear to have QD drag links so I'll want those and adjustable control arms (the good ones) right? What else can y'all recommend?

You're tape measure is 1/2" below the spring perch and you're about 15.5-15.75 depending on the angle. I'd say a 3" lift or a sagging 4".

Yeah wasn't sure on location. I put the tape measure end about mid point on the end of the coil. That piece you see to the right of the tape is the end of the coil spring. So if I want 35x12.5 tires I still need about a 1" body lift right?
