Last year there were multiple rapes and even murder. The locals wanted to cancel it but apparently social media over ruled them. Crystal Beach used to be a “Where the heck is that?” remote location.

I always say that the JK and JLU crowd brought along with it a different audience. Had this event been nothing but TJ owners I don't think it would get nearly as crazy as it seems to.

It reminds me why when I was riding motorcycles I never wanted to ride with large groups. There was always at least one guy who wanted to mess around and do really, really stupid stuff. In a large crowd the number of idiots only multiples.

The "hold my beer" factor goes way up with crowds.

TJs only, it would a been a group of guys dressed like this, blocking the duck people from their Jeeps. :)

😂

It goes without saying that no one with any good sense is going to these types of “Jeep” events.

It’s actually called “Topless Weekend”, but some call it “Jeep Weekend”. It used to be really good. I remember before we owned a sheep we would go down to Crystal Beach to visit my parents at their beach house. We were driving down there on a Sunday evening when Topless Weekend was wrapping up. We saw so many Jeeps on the road going the other way that I lost count. There were many antique Jeeps & trail ring on trailers. It was like a car show for Jeeps & it was wonderful!
Eventually a bunch of non-Jeep people imposed themselves on the event & ruined it for everyone.

I grew up in Houston in the 80's, and had a CJ5 down in Galveston. There are many different beaches, Bolivar penisula beach over the ferry, Jamaica, Crystal (used to be families at that one) and East Beach where 101 KLOL had huge rock concerts.

slept under my CJ many times, driving up and down the beach is a blast....but when I was 19, I would drive into the water, at 2am, stupid....VERY stupid stuff like that. I did crazier things out in East Texas, jumped levies (should be dead, Jesus has a plan I'm trying to deliver on, ha).

"Go Topless" Weekend....I agree, brought out the JK's, then JL's and that....with 19 year olds with "new" jeeps, and also a lot of power drinkers that have "affliction" tattoos' kind of thing, ha. Not meaning to offend anyone, just saying, I was a crazy person when I was young.

On top of that....Galveston has a somewhat poor population, and some of the bad things like big cities (it's real close to Houston) and boys looking to act like men and out tough each other.

There are beaches there where Go Topless is not an issue for people not wanting to be in the power drinking let's start a fight and have girls twerk on the bumper stuff. Jeep clubs around Texas will put out where the, I guess boomers, go, ha.
