Mopar crank sensor won't fit in the connector, anyone else have that issue?

I've tried a few crank sensors and cam sensors with no great success. So I figured I would buy the Mopar brand crank senor at least and give that a try. So many posts about how these tj's are very sensitive to the correct sensors.

I order the mopar one from Rock Auto, and wouldn't you know the plastic connector has corners that are more square and less round so it won't fit in the jeep's connector. the connector on the right was the mopar one. I also attached the connector that's on my jeep. I didn't want to modify it, seeing as it was $126 and mopar I expect it to fit.

That’s annoying. The crank position sensor plugs do appear to have varying shape across years. Slight but the corners do look different.

I had the same issue with my NTK brand CPS. I didn't want to waste my time sending it back and not driving, so I swapped out the plugs, crimped and shrink wrapped the wires. Mine was 1/4 of the price of your though.
p.s. On another note, my cheap $12 Chinese sensor fit perfectly and almost lasted a week.

Did the NTK sensor work?

Rock auto sent me a replacement, from a different wareheouse this one says made in USA, however has the same square connector. I guess the mopar option is not a good one for me.

For some reason I recall that there is a difference between units depending on whether it is an automatic or manual????

Same thing happened to me with the Mopar part. Didn't want to chop up my harness, so I decided to do some creative filing on the plug. If you're careful you can radius the square corners enough that it will fit the factory harness plug. The sensor worked fine for me.

I thought about that, then common sense set in. I'm not paying for a part that doesn't fit, then paying for ME to ship a part YOU sent because you're stupid.

I thought the same thing. Had the part in the box ready to ship back, but no other option is available if you want to stay Mopar other than used. Didn't want to waste time trying to figure out which of the aftermarket parts work or not. Seems there's no definitive answer there. So I took a chance filing the corners on the Mopar plug and it works. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to keep it going. And with the crap they're now trying to pass off as auto parts, it's getting worse. Drove 20 minutes to pick up a set of new brake calipers just to get back to the shop to find the bolt holes with NO threads! There is no pride in their products anymore, just greed.
