Check the age of your tires

Another tire shop line of BS. Nope, safety issue... cant touch it, law says its to old to patch or mount on those shiny new rims you just bought, you need new tires. Then you come back a week later and that same tire(s) is on their used tire rack. Maybe its just a a AZ thing eh?

Had a blow out today on the freeway. Not fun. Lots of tread doesn't mean tires are good. Check age of your tires.

Lol last year I bought stock wheels with tires from 2011 on them after my fateful demise dealing with 6x5.5 wheel adapters. Guess what happened the second I hit 60 MPH? Slight back massage and front end exercise.

Also last year, I bought a truck with tires on it that were a year younger than me. I got about 20 miles in before a blowout. I'm proud they lasted that long.

That totally sucks. I can't imagine a higher liability for a business than selling used tires to the public. All the ones here are little independent shops that would probably fold and skip town on one lawsuit, none of the big names sell used.

Sounds about right, when I bought used tires in college they'd just throw your car up on 4 trolley jacks in the parking lot lol

I’m still running my bfg km2s for 2012. Tread on the edges tears off easier now than before when clawing on the rocks but otherwise doing me good.

The FB marketplace is chock full of Jeep takeoffs from 2010 with "plenty of tread".

IMO a tire over 6 years old isn't worth the disposal fee, regardless of how much tread it has.

I usually change our tires out at five years or half tread , whichever comes first . My trailer tires at four to five years regardless of tread . Our safety is worth the extra money paid out to keep fresh tires .

They are under warranty until 6 yrs...

All BFGoodrich® tires that are purchased from an authorized BFGoodrich dealer (find authorized BFGoodrich dealers here) have a Standard Manufacturer's Limited Warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from date of purchase, whichever occurs first. See warranty for details. Unauthorized tire dealers selling BFGoodrich tires cannot provide the Standard Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty.

Every FALKEN brand radial tire is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for the usable life of the original tread within six years of date of production (for 2021 produced and newer) based on the tire DOT serial number.

Same for GY, Cooper, etc, etc.

In case anybody reading this is unfamiliar on where to find, and how to read their tires 4 digit date codes. First two digits indicate the week they were made, last two digits indicate year (1023 = 10'th week of 2023, or, March 2023) I'll include several examples of date codes on different tires.

That's good to know . At five years I shouldn't have any tire failures . Most likely I'll change them sooner depending on tread depth , I prefer deep treads .

I’m over here wondering if I need to replace my Falkens that have only 20K miles on them that I bought in 2020. The tread has between 8/32 and 9/32 on them. I do want to get 15” wheels and tires so I’ll probably do that soon once money permits.

The lower the tread depth , the easier it will be for the tires to hydroplane . Hydroplaning is no fun o_O
