One-ton swap on stock 05 TJ

Honestly with what already well built rigs are selling for these days you should consider selling the one you have and buying one already built

He's just got done doing a 4BT swap so I'd doubt he's interested in selling it.

Nice. Did you shave it PC?

Nope, but I might in the future. The JKU is a camping/trail/hunting/winter rig. I’ll still wheel it some down at AOAA and Rausch, but unless I’m constantly getting hung up on tree roots, I’ll leave it be.

Just an FYI for those responding to him in the US. In Canada, we pay a poor exchange rate, imported parts often have 25% GST and then 8% tax on top of that. Then the shipping companies often shaft you on the customs clearance. It most commonly is better to source parts from Canada.

TMRCustoms.ca makes a lot of builder parts. They have Sterling/Dana 60 trusses and builder parts but not the stock brackets for the TJ. Probably best to get the trusses from TMRCustoms (Ontario, you may have a source closer, check the BC offroad forums for local info) and the remaining brackets if needed elsewhere. If you go 3-Link/ 4-Link (much more work), then they have all the parts for that.

My #1 pet-peeve living in Canada is how much we get shafted compared to the US on basically everything.

Given how long my project has taken compared to how long I'd originally planned I'd say 6 month minimum......

@DETOUR if you do a search there have been a few builds where people swapped in Ford Super Duty running gear.

You'll need to source new mounting brackets & remove all the stock brackets which from what I've read online is a PITA to do. Then are you sticking with coil springs? Coil Overs? Other?

Are you upgrading your steering to something like PSC? Hydro-assist?

WB stretch at all during this axle swap?

Staying stock Super Duty width? What rims?

As others have said already, we need more information to be able to provide you with any help.

Way to go folks,

• thats all I needed for now , there’s a lot of variables and I was only hoping someone on here did a wonton swap that I could use as a model or base to go from
•till we get there , we're plugging away on finishing our 4BT snail-paced 4BT swap on our ‘05 LJ

• once we figure out on how to upload vids, we’ll post the smoke in the chimney
• and yes the Yukon is pushing DETOUR 😉

I KNOW Artec isn't a liked vendor around here but here is their SD axle kit for the Dana 60

https://artecindustries.com/collections/dana-60™/products/tj-1-ton-superduty-front-60-swap-kit

And their Sterling axle kit

So again I know some have had issues with this vendor on how some of their brackets fit or had clearance issues. But at least you're seeing what you might need to get those axles under your rig.

I don't know if there are other vendors that offer similar products or not.

Thx Wildmam ‼️
