My dumbness did 8 years AF before I went Army. I Regretted every day until I retired.
When my dad married my mom he was in the Navy. She tolerated it for his first enlistment, but told him, you can be a sailor, or be married to me, but not both. He got out and joined the Air Force.
Actually, at 15, he left home and joined the Army, they found out he was only 15 and sent him home. Then at 17 he joined the Navy and married my mom, then she told him the Navy wasn't gonna work out, so he got out and joined the Air Force. I was born in Wyoming and lived in Nebraska, Missouri, NY, Illinois and back to Wyoming...where I joined the Navy.

The longest I've lived in the same house in the last 28 years has been Alaska.
Did two tours, of which I spent one of those years in Korea.
My wife doesn't understand why I'm always ready to move on. "Let's find a permanent home and set.up roots."

Yeah, wife and I are both Navy. I'm always ready to move on...or not. I'm kind of at home anywhere.
She starts getting restless every 3 years and wants to move. She's currently eyeballing jobs in Italy. If she picks up something good, my boss can let me go full time remote work, or I'll bag groceries at the commissary.
I'm fine with moving as long as we can burn everything in place and just start over!
But, God! Made don't make me pack and unpack again!

You mean the struggle of standing back up with a full ruck after taking a knee in ankle breaking rocks to receive a FRAGO. Shin splints and blisters. Ass chafing from sweat and three days worth of unwashed BDUs. Dehydrated pork patties. Bathing in a steel pot. Peanut butter that doubles as insect repellant . Standing in formation for a COC ceremony in 95* for hours while the new CO drones on about how he's proud to... yada yada yada. Cold eggs and slimy sausage out of a Mermite can. Getting your ass eaten by the CSM for something that happened under the old PSG. Sitting on a tarmac in the sun waiting for your stick to board for hours only to have the flight canceled and having to execute a forced march to make your time hack.
Oh man, the good old days.
