I owned a flat black '49 Ford 2-door sedan with a flathead 239 V8 and a 3-speed overdrive transmission. It was my second car purchase, if'n I recall correctly. I wanted to buy a local '49 business coupe that was running a 390 and a C6 in it, but my dad gave me a firm "Hell no!". I was 16 at the time, so his house, his rules.

I tended to ask forgiveness after that fact...
I can remember showing up in the driveway in my new to me 67 Chevelle Super Sport with a 396... I was told that I'd have to pay for my own insurance if I wanted to keep it. I'd bought it not running.

My dad was 27 years Navy. I would not have come out on top in any such situation. ;)

I did have it a little easier since my dad was a pastor. I still didn't win many of those battles.

Now the funny one was when I'd blown the transmission in my 64 Chevy truck. I was at the junk yard to get a new transmission. They had a dual quad intake off a Corvette sitting there. Bought both for $125. And my dad was as excited as I was to install that intake on my truck. Should have seen my moms face when we got home....

Now go lookup what those sell for... ;)

Yep, I have & I'm sick to my stomach to think what I could sell it for now. I sure had fun with that truck though. I broke the rear trailing arm on the rear coil suspension. It's how I ended up with my Lincon. Traded the truck for it.

I'm glad your dad was a man of reason , otherwise we likely wouldn't have the opportunity to talk with you Squatch .
And that would be a Damn shame ! Here is a blast from the past from the more sedate side . :D
