So I just finished a 4.0 swap from a 2.5 and it cranks and partially starts but won’t hold, but if I keep my foot on the gas it’ll rev and only continue back to cranking if my foot is let off. I have a video but I can’t figure out how to include it.
Problems that only occur when your foot is off the gas pedal can be caused by a bad or inoperative IAC (idle air control) module which is mounted on the side of the throttle body. The IAC's air is the engine's sole source of air when the throttle is closed/foot is not holding the gas pedal down.
