I own a 1997 TJ - I ordered upgraded cables from JeepCables.com. Problem is the PDC I have has this weird connector. I am unable to find anything similar to this. Can anyone help? The cables I ordered is expecting two bolts on my PDC - but I only have one and this connector, Does that make sense?

Thank you for your reply. Here is the actual connector from the PDC - I am not seeing any cables that will work with this except the one I am trying to replace. I am stumped.

Welcome to the forum. Eager to hear what works out in the end, as I have a 97 as well. Once we have an answer, I'll update the "quirks of 97s" thread in my signature. You might also like the SE thread in my signature. Let us know if you have anything to add.

I'm at work right now and can't go check on my TJ, but that looks like the plug that connects to a wire coming off the starter. I have a 4.0, so could be different, but I replaced all my battery cables a while back, and seem to remember that connecting to the starter.

So the first picture you have is the male end, and the second picture is the female end? The first one looks like the fusible link that would go to your alternator and is part of the kit you just bought minus the male end of the connector. So you un-tape the connector from the fusible link, and reuse it. I didn't get a new wire from the PDC to the starter, I reused the old one.

Hope I'm following correctly, and haven't completely got it wrong.

I had the same dilemma.

Take a razor knife and cut through the connector to the starter between the small wire and the old starter positive power cable.

Remove the tape holding the PDC wire connector to the old alternator wire. Reinstall this wire by plugging into the PDC and connecting to the starter.

Discard the old positive cables to starter and alternator.

Install the new positives to starter and alternator.
