yeah, i’ve spent a few bucks on my motorcycle camping gear but, it’s mostly quality stuff. have bought some cheaper gear only to find out it wasn’t up to par. as they say “ ya get what you pay for. “
Would you sell your hard top?

Yeah, I miss my full doors sometimes when I'm on the top of a mountain and it's really windy
To heck with all y'all. I am going out in the heat and take my soft top off.
I kept my hard top when I lived in the mountains and regularly saw winter temperatures in the range that easily cracks a soft top window if you touch it. Now, those temps are quite rare so I sold my hard top last summer.
I was opposite I wanted a Red or a white one with soft top and half doors and ended up with a black full doors and hard top!
I take about the same as you but with a fridge lol , I am thinking of cutting down my gear but I like to have it all at hand, my tents are the problem, one is 6' and the other 5' long packed, without my hard top I will have to have the rear window out.
You Australians use way better tents than we do out here it seems like. And yeah it's hard to cut down gear. I know I could survive without a lot of it. But at what point does it end up being not so fun since I have no seat, no extra clothes, etc
I have seen a youtube vid and they had a tie down point fitted each side in the body just above the rear flares and a single light bracket each side of the wind shield to tie down, they put rubber under the load at the windshield and speaker bar and it didn't harm the soft top with a kayak on top.
This one is the 5' long packed down, I wouldn't enjoy camping without my OZtent touring bakers tents. but look at how much crap I take for a solo camp! lol, the two plastic chairs were left behind by a previous camper and I used them and then took them to the dump point.
24C - 75F in Perth yesterday and its winter! that's why I am considering selling my hard top and the fact I have no space so its stored at a friends house.
Wow my setup is nowhere near that awesome and I still don't have enough space. Okay I'm starting to think I pack like crap...
What about if you didn't have the space to store it and nobody to help you put it on and off? this is my predicament, its winter now in Australia and I have not put it back on because the guy where I store it cannot lift it so I need to arrange friends to help.
Ya ya I know I locked myself out once for 5 min, before my buddy had the tools to pop it off lol!It takes 30 seconds to pop the rear glass on a hard top to steal crap.
Initially, I stored it like this but needed help to take it on and off.
Then I hung it from hooks in the ceiling using motorcycle tie downs.
A short old man age 74, I can take it on and off by myself.
Takes less room hanging from the ceiling.

actually, I gave my hardtop away before I moved from NJ to AZ..run soft tops on both Jeeps now, and I love it
I love having mine for the winter months. I think it’s a combo of how hard they are to find, bragging rights, and actual functionality. When everything frosts up in the winter that defroster is a godsend.
