Cordless work lights

I have one of the M12 flood lights and I find that I don't use it as much as I would like to because the color output is too "warm" and doesn't provide as much clarity as my Dewalt 20v light that outputs a white "cool" light. My garage lighting is all 5000k which is probably also why I want flashlights that match.

I noticed today that Milwaukee has another M12 light. It looks like a very usable size. Does anyone have one? Is the color output warm or cool?

I have the top version, and although bright, it always (ALWAYS!) points the light in the WRONG direction.
I swear it is either pointing directly into my eyes, or it is shining for deer.
The natural angle of the light, along with the nearly useless magnetic and clamping features of this light earn it a solid 1-star rating.

A few years ago I bought a Milwaukee under hood light that I have used for countless hours under the hood, in the cabin, and under the frame of my Jeep and other project cars. One thing I really like about the under hood light is that a few minutes before the battery is about to die, it gives you a few intermittent blinks as a warning.

The bar that holds the light is spring loaded and allows it to grip a hood, inside of the passenger compartment roof or just lie on the ground. The light itself can be twisted on the bar to allow it to be pointed in any direction which helps to eliminate shadows. The spread of the light is very broad and lights up an engine bay or undercarriage wonderfully..

It is a bit more task specific than the light Blaine showed but I would 100% buy it again it I lost mine.

Here are a few pictures I grabbed off the internet.

Get one of these and the absolute usefulness will completely overshadow any pickiness over light color.

I've been using this for the last month and it's like having a lightning bug for a helper because the light is never in the way and always able to put the light where I want it.

My pickiness of the light color still exists, but is overshadowed by the absolute usefulness.

My only complaint is that this light doesn't work well for house projects that aren't magnetic. If I could do over again I'd build my house out of steel so I could use this light everywhere.

Just shipped off one of my underbody lights. It won’t turn on. My other one works just fine with the same battery.

My first test of a Milwaukee warranty.

My first test of a Milwaukee warranty.
I had mixed results with their warranty. I sent a Hackzall back that had some cracking in the rubber over-molding. I thought they'd just replace the cracked part, but they replaced the entire tool, and I was very happy. Also sent back a drill that was making some clunking noises when drilling, and they said they wouldn't cover it because it was damaged from mis-use. What? If using a drill to drill holes is mis-use, then what am I supposed to use it for? I wrote a letter showing the thousands I've spent on Milwaukee over the last five years and saying that it was very disappointing to use a drill for drilling and get a warranty refusal letter. They did replace it, but the fact that they denied it initially didn't make me feel very good about them...

I used one of the underbody lights this last weekend. Very helpful and now I need $200 to go buy one...

They are great when they work. Not so much when they don’t.

I want a second one

One is none and two is one for me. Probably should buy a third as there was no indication it failed. Ran when parked.

Seems like the power switch failed. It was shipped to Mississippi for repair.

A new replacement light showed up today. Milwaukee's warranty worked in my favor.

Be nice to know what was wrong with the one I shipped back but we'll never know.
Well that's good news, App! I've dropped my light several times from 6' onto concrete. So hard that the battery detaches! Each time, I expected a broken light when I picked it up, but so far, so good! I'm glad Milwaukee came through for you!

They do a decent job with updates through the process too.

I picked up one of the under hood lights and just love it. It works great under the hood, in the cab, or if you take the light out of the clamp it is great for under the car as well. Just gives off a lot of light and very little shadow because of how long it is.

I printed a bracket so it will clamp under my shelves and can use it for additional lighting over my bench as well when it is not being used on a car.

I also picked up one of the new USB-C rechargeable 2013R lights and like it better than the Rover because of the clip and how small it is. I do prefer to use M12 batteries over the USB rechargeable because I can swap the battery much faster than charging it. That said I have yet to run it out of battery if I remember to charge it at lunch and overnight.
