Hello All!

I am new to this forum. Im coming over from the TacomaWorld Forum! Thats right, I just recently sold my 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road and I am looking at buying my uncle's 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited LJ. The jeep has around 28,000 miles and my Uncle is the 2nd owner. It has been garage kept and from all information it is a very lightly used Jeep that has never seen any real off road action. He has done a few things to it but not much: winch, modified rear luggage carrier where they converted the jerry can holders into wet/dry storage, he said he "replaced the suspension" but it's not lifted at all. He also put in bucket leather seats up front, and upgraded the audio system. He is asking around $19,000 for it, but its my uncle so Im sure Ill be able to get him down some. I'm trying to figure out which rear axle it has, hoping for the Dana 44 obviously, but it could be the 35. I need to figure that out. Just looking for general thoughts on that vehicle, price opinions, ect. Thanks and look forward to reading and posting on this forum!!

I was under the impression that the Dana 44 was an option not standard on the LJ. Is that not correct?
Nope. It was an option on the TJ, standard on the LJ. Standard with the Rubicon package on the TJ.

And for clarity, the LJ moniker is a made up nickname for the TJ Unlimited - the long wheelbase TJ.

love the color, I bight my Uncle's '04 TJ Rubicon and got no deal whatsoever! and he likes me! but, it was stock, he is OCD and keeps everything immaculate, is an unbelievable mechanic so anything he sells, you just buy...sounds like the same for your Uncle...with the prices of TJ Unlimited's these days, $19k is a steal...

I sold my Tacoma TRD (2004) to get an LJ too. My LJ had 98K miles and cost a wee bit more than what your uncle is asking. That's a great price for the current auto market, and a gorgeous LJ. Buy it before he changes his mind, or realizes that he can get more. Enjoy!

That is a good looking jeep !

My daily is a 21 TRD OR and I love it.
I absolutely loved my tacoma, my first vehicle was also a Tacoma that I ended up putting close to 300k miles on it and it could have gone another 100k

That thing looks pristine- hug your uncle - unless he wants to hug you a lot- if he does just give him $19,000.00.

Great looking Jeep. If it only has 28,000 miles, snatch it up. I had a 2018 Taco. I liked it for the most part, but hated the transmission in it. I needed something bigger for some of the work I do. I did get a LJ for cruising around and light off-roading. Hopefully this is a welcome to the club.
