New to Jeeps...AND forums!

I think I just figured this out! Woo-hoo! This is my '98 TJ. Have only owned it for a week...

Nice find! At that price I don’t see how you could go wrong. Good job getting the pics up! You might want to get some sleep though! I know I sure would! :(

Thanks, all, for the compliments on the Jeep and my good fortune on this purchase. And as for getting some sleep, @JMT, you'll find my hours to be different than most. I've been working swing shift for 34 years, so late nights and early mornings (like, 3:00am...) are my norm. Yesterday was a really slow night at work, hence my hours of participation. That definitely won't be the norm for me, 'cept maybe around lunch/dinner time...

A deal on a hardtop around here is $1000 (I saw one recently on Craigslist). They are usually $1500-$1750, from what I've seen...

Welcome aboard, @Squatch !

My wife almost insisted that I put the Dana 44 in, rather than just replace the blown rear end with another (decidedly cheaper) Dana 35. You have to love that kind of support!

Yea, for now. Just wait until you really get started on it. She may begin to rethink that support :D

To give you an idea of what hard tops cost in the PNW, I live in Salem, Oregon and paid $1250 for my hard top which needed to be repainted! They aren't cheap up here, I'll tell you that. I love my hard top though.

I cannot argue with that logic! ;) I will say that at this point in time, my biggest concern will be her absconding with the keys! She just loves her little XJ, but has always wanted a Wrangler. First thing she said when she saw the TJ was "You're putting bigger tires on it, right? I want bigger tires!" My God, I love this woman! :D

Alright, your woman and my woman are similar. Mine said the same thing. But it was different when I took her wheelin’. She was like, pulse 120, freaking out. I literally had to look her in the eyes and say, “Calm down, girl!” But she wants me to get bigger tires. Ok, I can live with that!
