Perfect day for some ribs amirite?

Well, they’re in the oven. The ol’ Pitboss has been acting shitty lately - fluctuating temps, lost the flame a couple of times. Cleaned out the firebox, seemed to be doing alright until today.

Wouldn’t light. Took the grills off, the firebox was empty. Pushed the prime button to turn the auger & nothing happened.

Emptied the pellets & found saw dust impacted around the part of the auger that’s visible. Pulled off the auger motor & couldn’t turn the auger for shit. I had to put a pair of vise grips on the stub & work it back & forth until it started to move. There was so much saw dust in there I actually had to unscrew the thing through the compacted dust.

See that gasket? That seals the pellet hopper. Looks like it wasn’t installed correctly & moisture got in there. There’s surface rust on the auger too. I’m currently taking a break from using a 3’ pry bar to work through the feed tube. Moisture got in there & the pellets swole to the point they cemented the auger in place.

I might just go buy a green egg instead.

I’ve been happy with my green egg for 8 years and counting. Few moving parts to replace. I prefer my life simple. I don’t need an app to smoke a pork shoulder!

Kamodo grills are the bomb. I have a vision. It's amazing.
