Are they OE? I'd change them just due to age. I had a lot more miles on mine when I did them, and everything looked fine. But when I got the axle joints out, the grease was just black dough, and the bearings were starting to wear. Changing u-joints in the middle of BFE is not on my bucket list.

Pop the valve cover and see if the valves are opening and closing on #3. Like others have said, run a borescope down the sparkplug hole. They can be had for $30 on Amazon.

How many miles are on it? Could be the pump going bad. Mine goes in Monday for a trans swap for that very reason. It has 151K.

That tank will probably save you 30 seconds of run time, after which the compressor is going to be at 100% duty cycle. Not worth the loss of space.
