42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

Well that’s no good. As others have mentioned getting enough of the wrong fluid out might be very difficult. In my thoughts if the transmission is down I say have the transmission rebuilt while it’s out as well as the converter replaced. Easy to say when I’m not paying for it but taking it out...

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

Well, that’s a bummer. How many quarts did you refill after the drain? Sounds like there is bigger issue at hand. Next thought is differentiating between a band issue or the torque converter shudder. When does this take place, is that at a shifting point or in top gear at steady throttle.

    Rolled my Rubicon! Need advice

Sorry it happened, I’d fix it for sure. Since it’s been upside down and also before you throw a jump pack on it, pull the plugs. Just in case there is oil in the cylinders or another fluid. Don’t want to bend a rod. With the plugs out give her a spin with a jump pack hooked up. Go from there.

As Unique User name says, the PCM is a possibility as well, that is some that escaped my mind. The fluid side sometimes takes a bit to get the incorrect fluid out. If you had a drain plug, I would say do a couple drain and fills. Otherwise it’s the messy option by dropping the pan. No promises...

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

My consideration on this is the difference in synthetic fluids base stock ATF+4. Nothing more nothing less. I’ve had issues with transmissions prior when changing to synthetic oils vs standard base stock trans fluid. Some transmissions get an attitude lol

When my solenoid went I used Valvoline ATF+4, non synthetic fluid. I didn’t experience any of the issues that you did. I think you’re on the right track with the fluid. Hope you get it solved Sir.

I’m on the same page as Trojandawg, forestry roads, water crossings ETC. The whole rock bouncing/crawling is not in my wheelhouse. Charlie’s creek sounds good or any of the others.

Submitted, I’m flexible on weekends. Hopefully my TJ will be done by the time the ride is organized. Hurry up and wait on parts. You all know the while I’m there deal 🤪. I still have the LJ to take as long as ride is good for a stocker.

New here and looking for advice on a TJ and LJ

Just an update, started on replacing all the Rough Country parts on the TJ with everything I’ve accumulated. I would advise anyone to do a nut and bolt torque check if you purchase a Jeep with a lift installed from the previous owner. I knew it wandered all over the road when I drove it, but...

Andy, you not wrong scavenging parts between the jeeps to make one. Ideally my mindset is to generally have both, but more and more I look at the TJ it seems to be the one I wouldn’t be upset at if it gets damaged on the trail if I did something stupid. I appreciate your responses as well as...

I’d just like to thank all that replied, TJ will be the trail rig. The final parts arrived yesterday so I’ll get to installing them over the holidays as long as I don’t get the look from the wife. She always says she usually see’s my feet or my backside during holidays being under a car. It’s...
